  • Brand new Tiguan - error

Hi all, I just received my MY19 162 Tiguan yesterday. All was going ok until km 300 where a park pilot and rear cross traffic alert error shows up/beeps incessantly about twice a second (with seemingly no way to turn it off), rendering the car almost impossible to live with!

Does anyone have any tips? Presume it’s a sensor error but when I go to turn off rear cross traffic in the system I get a ‘this function is unavailable message). Is there, for instance, a way to reset or similar?

Thanks so much, appreciate any responses!

Take it back to the dealer. Sounds like a sensor or control module fault. Something has come loose or failed.

Sound obvious but check you haven't got some crap on the sensor.

Took my Tiguan in for a service today (took me over a week to get a spot despite the vehicle being brand new). Was informed it was a software fault VW is aware of, however a fix is not yet available. They have apparently implemented a ‘stop gap’ solution and I have to take it back in a few weeks for ANOTHER software update.

Not an amazing start to the ownership experience, particularly with such few KM on the clock. Wondering how many MY19 Tiguans it affects, perhaps all of them?

Be interested to know how many are affected. But given it's a software fix it "should" be relatively painless.

Likely cars will just get the update when they come in for service and people will be none the wiser if they haven't ever had the fault come up.

Hm, wouldn't a software fault should impact everyone whom hasn't got the update/fix/patch, no?

Depends how it’s triggered or exactly when it rears up. It may only happen as a result of a certain chain of events, that unless mirrored by someone else exactly may not give them grief

They temporarily fixed it for me by adjusting the tone and loudness settings on my external sensors. Which suggests to me it was a freak combination of settings I had that caused the software fault!

I have also encountered the same issue. Taking the car to the dealership today. Not happy Jan.

Apprentices are fair game for everything it seems.

Could be a bad batch of modules, just like the mechatronics carry on

Maybe an updated SW that has introduced a “bug” so isn’t there for older models?

My new Tiguan Wolfsburg had the same issue this afternoon! I was using park assist, and half-way through it threw up an error and keep dinging at me. The error would not go away, ding ding ding ding! There was also a clicking from over near the glovebox somewhere.

It was drivable - but very annoying - dinging and throwing up the error on the display every 2 seconds or so, no matter what I tried.

I took it in to Bayford Camberwell (because I was home on school holidays with the kids!), and despite the lady at the desk saying "It's half past three and the mechanics knock off at 4" they agreed to have a look. Got it back an hour later -turns out it is a known issue, and is resolved with a software update "Campaign - 91 V 2 Update for Parking Assist Software".

Kudos to Bayford for dealing with it straight away.
