What's the difference between the old AID and the new AID?

I had a 2018 golf as a courtesy car which had an AID, but it seemed lower spec than the one in my 2017 Tiguan. It didn't seem to have the same clarity. The quality of the rear parking camera was markedly worse than the Tiguan - really grainy and blurry.

New LCD on Tiguan is smaller size, 10 inch vs 12 and pixel count has lower resolution and lower view angle . For my eyes also lower colour accuracy and picture quality than first version ,bit different layout with small analogue segment led stationary on both sides for fuel and coolant temp. However it will be able to display full screen map same as on same as new vw and skoda cars. I find much better quality and looking design on first AID Tiguan generation, especially if you code it and tweak it nicely . Here is video of new version YouTube

Here is one more link Check out Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit tech in the 2019 Jetta - Video - Roadshow ,showing same AID on new jetta. This video show more close up AID look and explained and showed functions . it clearly show les display lost due to both side cutt off for leds for fuel and temp ,also lower res.

How do you know which has a higher pixel count and better view angle ?

That's my close observation after comparing both display when was overseas . Sorry I forget to note that I have supervision

Found this video of the international "Black Style Edition" which is essentially our Wolfsburg minus the DLA headlights. Looks great in the Indium Grey!

I posted in the other Tiguan thread, but my Wolfie really belongs here. Dealer delivered it to the house on Thursday avo. It was on the stink bug infested Thalatta. Dealer has told me they are sold out, and no more Wolfies available in Aus.

Was ordered mid Nov with original delivery date of 28 Dec.


Havig stepped ‘down’ from an X5 I am amazed at the finish and size of this vehicle. So many standard features that are extra on the Beemer and the interface is so much more intuative. For half the price!

There are gents doing it in the VCDS thread and the Wolfsburg certainly has the correct headlights for it so I assume it won’t be a problem. On my previous car it was probably the most amazing tech feature it had (and it has a lot) so I’m hoping I can enable it via coding. I have bought an OBDEleven specifically for this.

I’ll let you know how I go, will be the first thing I do the weekend after I pick up my Wolfsburg. Also, if you get a spare moment, could you please measure the size of the space where you would put your phone (in front of the gear stick). I’m hoping to put something like this there:
