The dealer said this is disrupting a much broader network than just VW, and a lot of other Euro car manufacturers are in the same boat (pun intended)

I wouldn't put it past them to ban the cargo permanently so it can never be landed here at all. I guess it is for the greater good but disappointing none the less, you only have to look at the biological disasters have have been imported into this country already.

That would be interesting if it did happen and no cars are delivered. I will expect some compensation...

I'm pretty sure the dealer won't mention anything if I ask will my car delivery on time, my estimate delivery is the 25th Jan and they said would be early Feb the latest.

When should I ask to cancel my deal, I don't want to wait til March.

We will find out in the next week if Tulane is allowed to berth and offload the cars. If not then it’s not good news. I’m waiting to see in too and if it’s still an issue then I will cancel also.

Should I just get the normal R line with the same spec as the wolfsburg ? The dealer offer me $59K and I will get it with a week. Or Wolfsburg will holder better value

Go with what you want.. but don't expect the Wolfsburg to offer any additional value hold down the track.

Yeah depends. From what I see the only real difference between a Wolfie and a fully loaded R-line is the HUD. Yes both have the same wheels (just different colour). The rest is identical (apart from a few black ascents and trims).

A Wolfie is a 2018 build car only so if you were to get an R-line then get it as a 2019 build. Otherwise a 2018 build is fine too & more importantly available now! Who knows what this new regulation on the Stink bugs will cause further delayed with future shipments.

In terms of resale, a good indication of how easy to sell a car is how popular they were as a new car. I think Wolfsburg resale will be OK, but again second-hand market can be a bit fickle. It may also date more than the standard R-line. Though it looks like there's more Wolfsburgs getting sold at the moment vs. standard R-line who knows what people will be wanting in 3-5 years time when you next decide to trade up.

That's crystal ball stuff. What you can do though is buy the car you really want andbe happy with your purchase. The enjoyment of the car should outweigh some small resale difference (if any) come time to trade in.
