I just did it at the same time as my spark plugs, just in case. After 12 months, things are still peachy. I’d recommend doing colder plugs if you are tuned/IS38 swapped over the coils though.
Motive DVD testing of coils showed the Audi R8 coils to be significantly bettee than other audi/vw OEM coils.

    • I got them only as a preventative measure.
I communicated with Paul from VAGPARTS who stated that the standard coil packs can melt into the bore on modified engines due to the extra heat being generated, so when you remove them to change the spark plugs the coils will break.
The RS3 and above coil packs are just slightly thicker and more durable.

I thought what Melbourne_Tiggy was referring to occurred more as a result of upgraded ignition pugs.

Those R8 coils aren’t for current Gen.3 Ea888, I used them on my Gen.1 Ea888...engine bay bling. You doing a hybrid or getting another car soon?

Got car back last week. Few other family issues to sort out before I worry about car mods or change atm.

                • So CTS DP arrived. Looks good. Cast up top, stainless the rest of it. Nice quality. Cannot wait to get it on and tuned.

                      • No I didn't, they snapped this for me.

You've got this APR pendulum mount haven't you Melbourne_Tiggy?
                        APR Pendulum Mount

I went for the Racingline one, but the arm's 20mm shorter than the OEM part. I've reached out to Racingline and Harding Performance for a please explain especially when I asked if it would fit the Mk2 Tig specifically.

Yeap, I’ve got the APR one....it’s meant for a RS3 FL DQ500, however fit perfectly on the Tig with the DQ500. Make sure it’s a DQ500 pendulum mount and not a DQ381 or DQ250 mount.

                            • That looks like a closer match to the OEM pendulum mount.
Annoyingly once the OEM dogbone inserts are out they won't go back in as they're plastic.
Here's the Racingline one next to the OEM.

I just checked the racing line site and saw it’s made for the s3/golf r/golf gti - most likely dq250 box. You will need to ask whether they do one for the rs3 FL which has the dq500 box like ours.
