Thanks for the update. My car is a mid 2018 build, and has a 200kg towbar and various labels on/in the car.

I wonder why this wasn’t addressed in the ‘before 2019 try continue to be 100’- mine has only been 200kg...

Mine is a Nov 2018 build and has those weights in the handbook at the back and no doubt yours has as well

Remembering that the rules says its the lesser of what the bar limit or the vehicle limit is

WHICHEVER IS THE LESSER and despite it being a VW bar the vehicle limit in the book is trumps

In 1995 Toyota rated the Landcruiser at 2500kg towing but also produced a 3500kg towbar.

They refused to upgrade the vehicle rating and those owners were stuck with it whereas the 1996 got upgraded with almost no engineering alterations.

You can have all the stickers you like but until they officially upgrade it Too bad too sad,

I hoped the quick reply covered it fully. Apologies for being a bit too vague.

All my paperwork mentions 200kg- not just the towbar sticker, or the sticker on the car. I have an updated booklet ‘thing’ that specifies the 200 towball limit- with no exclusions/dependencies.

Unfortunately all my labels say 100kg, but my Amendment manual mentions 200kg. No love from the dealer

What are people using as a tow hitch plug when they don’t have the tow ball inserted in the tongue?

Which towbar do you have A VW or a Hayman Reece If the latter they sell branded plugs for inflated prices Most of us just leave it open so dust and crap doesnt get stuck in it

Just prefer the neater finished off look with a plug

My VW one came with a black, plastic plug inserted. The towbar proper was in a black satchel inside the boot.

They seem to fit different types There are the Westfalia bars which are nice and neat and the HR bars with the 50mm square shaft so who has which one

I went for the sturdier, 50mm insert style. It was sold and stickers as genuine VW. Unsure if the true manufacturer.
I’m not a fan of the euro-style, fold-away curved ones. Less options for hitch height (and bike carriers)

Hi all
Can I please get some feedback on people’s experiences on towing with their Tig.
I have towed 4 different trailers over the past 18months of ownership.
Each trailer whether empty or full has had this issue of when travelling between 100-110k/hr you get some serious vibrations on the back end of the Tig. It feels like it’s oscillating up and down very quickly and shaking the Tig.
Accelerating or braking doesn’t stop it until you are below 100 or above 115k/hr.
I have tried comfort, normal and sport settings on DCC and no difference
I have checked tow bar and tow ball to ensure everything is done up tight and can’t find the cause.
Is this a Known Tig issue?
