Mine has occasionally ( 3 or 4 times) done this in the 12 months since IO have had my car.
Haven't worked out if it's because I had Android Auto running when I turned the engine off, or other media playing through the unit.
Will try and take more attention next time.

Was fine last night and only appeared today.

Haven't had an accident and there is no visible sign of damage to the outside (thought maybe someone might have reversed into it).

Will be heading to the dealer tomorrow to see if it can be replaced under warranty.

Can see it in the photo running parallel to the blue line.

Just noticed the same line showing up on mine. Have booked it in with VW for the end of the month.

Yeah, vw quality control at work again...

But, don’t worry, it only affects some cars- the ones with a stereo

This has been quite for a while - but I have three lines on my Discover Pro 2, but the car is out of warranty now. Anyone had any luck getting the headunit replaced when out of warranty? Cheers.

As it's a known fault they should be doing it under good will.

Have you serviced the vehicle through VW? This can help in situations like this although it's best to speak to your service advisor.

If no love there, call VW head office and raise your concerns and they may be able to influence the dealerships decision.

Cheers Grugly! Yeah, always serviced by VW - next time it's in, i'll raise it with the Service Advisor and see how I go. They just replaced a temp regulator under warranty so perhaps they'll do the same on this one.

For those interested / having the same issue - VW agreed to pay for the replacement part and half the installation labour (now over a year out of warranty) . Fully arranged by the Service Manager at Sydney City VW. Going in for the replacement early March.
