I know there is a lot of reviews on line but would appreciate any members view or first hand experience on the subject.
Looking at fitting 2 Channel camera in Tiguan, cam with G sensor etc.
Looking at the BlackVue DR750S 2CH or ThinkWare F770 or F800.
Is there any other brands I should consider.
    Thanks for any info given.

I’ve only ever owned a BlackVue, but have seen some of the other options.

The BlackVue does everything I ask if it, has great after sales service, is easy to install and use.

I would hold off on the 750 though I think a new model is just around the corner.

I got a BlackVue DR750S 2CH installed when I picked our Tiguan up. Works great - need to set up the cloud stuff still though.

Done bit of looking. There are some established products in South korea though hard to get if you don't speak the language. They have been using dash cams so long that almost every car has one nowadays leading to some benefits like crime investigatuons etc where there are poor survalence camera network.

Anyways I thought I might share some points.

        1. Video quality only really matters when taking footage at night. Almost all sensors are great in broad day light. Hence I lookout for Sony Exmor R sensors which is better than naked eye in the dark. They also go by the product name STARVIS. Where some product says just CMOS as camera sensor spec means nothing..as its just a pronoun for camera sensors, and you don't know what sensor it is..
So where possible lookout for exmor r or STARVIS sensors. Not just exmor.

        2. Second one is to look for capacitors powered rather than battery powered. This is helpful with high temperature the interior of the car can get.

        3. Compression technology. Some products can record the same quality with half the storage required. Especially with 2 ch dash cams this would come handy.

        4. Other bells and whistles such as Wi-Fi connectivity to check the footage on your phone instantly. Video software that maps the footage with gps detials. There are models with lane keep alert, traffic light change to green alert etc which is a secondary thing for me.

        5. Continued firmware support and uograde.

Unfortunately western markets are not sophisticated for manufacturer to disclose these info and hard for consumers to verify as compared Asian market where you can pick and choose compare based on specific parts.

There's one manufacturer that comes to my mind where they are in direct competition with Sony sensors. They supply the camera units to fit in samsung galaxy s and Hyundai Genesis.
As for blackvue theu tick all the poitns i have laid out so far, thiugh you cang get the same or s8milar spwc for half the price.

        Hope this helps.

I have a 750 in the front of the Passat and a DR450 in the rear. Paid $300 for the 750 and a PMP when Auotbarn had a special weekend before Xmas Got the 450 for $187 as well plus $30 for the GPS module Installed them myself. Have a brand new Power Magic sitting in cupboard that Im not using It has better settings than the PMP Can be set at 1hr and 11.6v for parking mode. Only takes an hour to hardwire the camera and a PM in.

Had a blackvue DR590-1CH installed for $270 this week plus another $80 for the parking monitor.

Havent had a chance to review it yet. But due to the way the mirror is setup, the camera is a little bit too far off centre to my liking.

I did research into dash cams and were only skeptical about BlackVue due to their recommendations of their own microSD cards. Extending my search further by prior experience, I bought the TaoTronics 2K TT-CD06 from Amazon US for 80 US$ + 8$ shipping to AU and picked a Samsung Evo Plus microSD card 64G from TheGoodGuys for a discounted price about 35$ from my memory. So far the video quality is excellent in the range 2K to 1080p. One thing that both the seller and manufacturer do not mention or mention very vaguely is that the Dynamic Range for Night Vision is only available in 1080p mode, not in the highest mode 2K. Nevertheless, video quality at night is also high. I can’t say about the durability for now but am quite happy with the investment.

You dont have to use the BV SD cards in their cameras I have 5 of them and all are running different cards NONE have BV cards in them and all work fine
