Map update?

Nope, doesn't read external HDD's. Off to get a 64

Our MY22 Allspace has the Discover Pro, but no SD card slots anymore =S .. seems they've downgraded a bunch of stuff - and ours even escaped the "semiconductor optimization" (de-speccing).

I'm guessing I can probably plug a portable drive into one of the usb-c slots?

Can depend on the drive and some. require a second USB connection for power as well Have one like that Wont run on just one but has a cable with two USB plugs on it

The vehicle needs to be connected to the VW servers, such as Car-Net, first. Then you need regional map support.
Better off just getting a USB stick like Hillbilly posted or what I use - SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C (32GB) | JB Hi-Fi
This one can swap between USB A and C.

Flipper Dogs explanation is correct as we dont have Carnet in Australia.

The answer in one word is NO The Mk II hasnt had an SD slot since 2017 and we have managed to update the maps as have already said.
NO other way. I would however make sure it is a 64Gb stick as some seem to have trouble fitting present map an a 32 Gb one. It is also sensible to use a Windows PC rather than a Mac

What computer are you using because if you dont use the correct unzipper on a MAC it wont work

Also after you insert the stick you WONT GET ANY MESSAGES that it is working Just wait 30 mins and check the map version before and after loading it latest is 21.11 in my Kamiq which has an MIB3 and uses the same maps as VW TROC

My 2019 Tig's map on a MIB2.5 is version 101

Thanks Hillbilly for following up. I am using Windows PC so should be ok. Thanks for the heads up on the “no message” when using the stick. A newbie like me would definitely think that something is not working.

Btw, is it true that I need to keep the engine running while updating? Seems quite environmentally unfriendly.

I did but you can just do it when going to the shops or somewhere and if you stop it it should restart from where it left off.If your car is fairly new half an hour with the ign on wont hurt it and dont need engine running
