How I used to drive before I got a DSG tune was to run the car in Sports mode and hit cruise control when at the desired speed. This would stop the car from revving it's tits off and when I did hit the brakes it would instantly change up a cog or two so it was ready to "go" straight away. It's a much safer way to drive and reduces the need for continually changing between "D" and "S" which kind of defeats the purpose of an auto box in a way.

And have to agree that a sprint booster / pedal box can assist in speeding up a sluggish accelerator pedal as it effectively stops the throttle reponse from going into lazy mode. Otherwise you have to give your car a good thrashing every now and then just to keep the throttle responsive.

So..., the car has been at the dealer for a few hours and had a software check. They said there was a software update, BUT they could not say what it exactly was as VW doesn't tell them that. First impression: the car does seem more responsive. To see if I'm just imagining that I'll have to try a few busy roundabouts, which I haven't engaged yet. Will keep you posted.

Did you have any software modifications? Did you reset them first?

I'm leaning towards it's neither but rather throttle/engine mapping. Turbo "lag", nah don't think so, how did the OP come to that conclusion?
