Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Interesting it does get the R-Line badge on the side in real life, that is not evident on the Pre-Release order pages

        But overall very nice.

Apparently there will be a trim alternative with a bit of luck ...post the release model

Thanks for the photos. That does look quite smart. I'm tossing up whether to get one of these for my next car. The exterior looks great - just have to wait and see how the interiors are.

            Thank you for posting photos!

This looks bloody amazing. They’ve put the R/GTI steering wheel in it for Australian spec, thank god for that.

The seats- they don’t look too bad actually, though I personally hate the two tone trim. White, what are they thinking!

Did they have any others there or just the red one?

Just the Red T-Roc, it is a nice red too and a Blue and a White T-Cross.

The T-Roc didn't have the option packs either, so no electric tail-gate etc.

The audio was ok from the standard system considering.

Lots of new reviews up online from the local launch. Mostly positive.

Just found the new engine/gearbox spec for the entry level T-Roc coming here. It'll be a 110TSI 1.4 turbo petrol with 8 speed auto. Pretty sure it's not a DSG box so must be a smaller traditional auto box.

I have thought for some time that the DSG might be phased out with Audi leading the charge and VW not game enough to put one in the US made Tiguan. It's sole reason for existing is slowly disappearing as new torque converter boxes get more efficient with electronic control in all of them.

Just look up the certification - Road Vehicle Descriptor for VW T-Roc

There's actually a reasonable amount of useful information there including wheel and tyre sizes, engine numbers and brake sizes.

Would they register the 8 speed and then only ever bring out the 7 speed DSG?
Seems a little strange that the lower spec gets more gears?
I think the Polo has 6 speed DSG in the base and then 7 speed DSG in higher models?
Would have thought if anything, they would use the same combos?

No. The above site is the information used to certify a vehicle for sale in Australia. They would have to go through the process again if they were to make a change and this would cost $ and take time.

VW uses an 8 speed Aisin transmission in the Tiguan in the US. I’m guessing that they are looking to use the same/similar box in the T-Roc 110TSI.

This is the way you can confirm specs once they are approved for import/sale. And before the model is “released” by VWA marketing.

Also a really good resource to get specs for the more recent cars (last 10 years or so).
