  • Petition: 4.2TDI V8 in the Amarok

    Hi guys,

I've started a petition for Volkswagen to put the 4.2TDI V8 in the Amarok. Obviously this needs all the support it can get. It's for a good cause.

I know it's only a matter of time until the 3.0TDI V6 is available, but seriously, who doesn't want a fuel-efficient V8 powerhouse???

I appreciate everyone's support and please feel free to share this around everywhere you can.

    Cheers,

    Chris.

I will go a step further to support your petition by offering my Rok to be the first for VW to fit a 4.2TDI into

Well ChrisV, someone else thinks it is a great idea

I like the sounds of 930Nm

MTM bringing V8-powered Volkswagen Amarok to Geneva

MTM has prepared a V8 engine transplant for the Volkswagen Amarok just in time for this year's Geneva Motor Show.

Rather than packing a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine, the German pick-up truck has received a larger 4.2-liter V8 TDI motor with 410 bhp (306 kW) and an impressive peak torque of 930 Nm (686 lb-ft). Despite being a utilitarian vehicle, the V8-powered Amarok manages to impress with its 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in only 6 seconds before topping out at 138 mph (222 km/h).

While the stock Amarok comes with a leaf spring rear axle, MTM's variant was fitted with a Panhard rod combined with air springs together with rear disc brakes. The front disc brakes measure 405x36mm and as a final touch MTM installed 22-inch BBS SV alloy wheels wrapped around in 295/40 Michelin Latitude tires.

                  Awesome.

....but seriously if you need more towing capacity, you can simply buy a Touareg instead. 3500kg with just the R5 TDI in the old old model.

Anyway, that MTM monster looks like it would do silly things to tyres.

I think that the towing capacity of Amarok is quite good and Iwas surprised to see this label on my towbar. Ball down force 300kg.

Yes. i think from a marketing point of view it would be good to out class everything in terms of raw power. particularly the Australian and African market.

Don't see the need to be honest for a V8 Amarok (other than the noise) and whereas the 3.0V6 TDI may actually happen one day eventually, V8 extremely unlikely and no petition will help.

Can solve any power issues easily enough with a bit of work on the existing TDI and TSI engines.

250kw/500NM easily enough done on the petrol models (keep an eye out for mine soon ) with no increase in weight unlike the V6 and V8 which will both add weight .....

Come one...... Everybody needs 930Nm of torque. One thing you wont need is low range though
