Tsi300 engine replacement

Looking at options at the moment for the rok whether spend the money fixing God knows what cause how longs a piece of string
Does anyone know if different variations of tsi motor will work like ccta? And just get a tune to suit?

Hey mate, sorry to read about the engine issues. I too have a TSI300 Rok but have been lucky so far. I've heard of a Tiguan TSI motor replacing a blown motor.
I've seen a guy on one of the facebook forums who has a low KM TSI Amarok motor for sale in NSW, he's put all the running gear from a Walkinshaw V6 into his single cab Rok.

It depends on what is wrong with the TSI motor. They are unique to the Amarok, but share ~97% of the same parts with any 2.0TSI circa 2012-2014 (Tiguan, MK6 GTI etc)

What is unique is the turbo and the exhaust camshaft and the sump/oil pan. The aforementioned 2 does mean that a generic 2.0TSI EA888.2 tune does not work on the TSI Amarok.

So, from a repair perspective all common EA888.2 components pistons/rings valves and even inlet manifolds and related bits (including fuel pump) can be used to repair your TSI motor. Incidentally due to its orientation in the engine bay, it is actually easier to work on than a transverse installation in a Tiguan or Golf.

I believe it will probably be cheaper to repair your TSI than to try and replace with another engine from another VW model.

If you know what is wrong with your TSI post it up and we can provide some more focussed advice.

BTW, the KO3 of the TSI Amarok is unique (though very similar to that of the A4 TFSI Audi) and you cannot use the KO3 from a GTI for instance. You can however use the cartridge from a GTI spec KO3 to repair your KO3 (and we will do this shortly as we have a fair bit of play in the turbo after 70000km running an APR tune.

I have a KO4 upgrade from HPA to go on to ours once the 4WD conversion is complete. That will need a GTI exhaust cam (already sourced) and a KO4 specific tune. Power about 240+ kw at that point.

BTW, I know that V6 and from my perspective its not worth the time and effort and not insignificant cost for neglible/no increase in performance over a tuned TSI. A healthy tuned TSI will outrun a stock (and some tuned ones) V6 quite comfortably ...

Agree with what Sharkie says. Either rebuild the broken one or source a low KM TSI motor to drop in, make sure to get the timing chain and guides done as well as looking at doing the metal water pump upgrade on it to save you more headaches in the future.
The V6 apparently has it's own issues with being prone to oil leaks, DPF issues etc. so it wouldn't be worth doing the swap, better parting out the body and just buying a used V6 Amarok.
The Amarok TSI if looked after and serviced regularly is a great engine, tuned it produces a heap of power and as with mine is even happy to tow a 1.3T caravan without having to overwork the engine.

It looks nice hey. This is the Walkinshaw Performance W580S Amarok front bar+grille here in Australia. The guy who built this bought a wrecked W580S and swapped all the running gear & interior over.
