  • I read somewhere on another thread some time ago that the oil is not changed and should not be done so until the first scheduled (12 months or 15,000 kms) due to run in properties within the oil.

    • The official response from the dealer is below with regards to the 1500K service.

The 1500km service is a complimentary inspection offered by Nepean Motor Group. (Checking lights, levels n pressures)

It is believed to provide you some time to drive the vehicle and identify concerns giving the driver/dealership an opportunity to rectify them without feeling as though you need to wait til the 12mnth/15,000km service.

We also recognise the purchase/experience of a taking delivery of a new car can be overwhelming and the explanation of some functions or featutes can go missed so provides further opportunity to go through some of those if desired.

I can confirm that there are no filters or fluids that require replacement at this time and it is actually recommended by the manufacturer that the oil in your vehicle not be changed prior to the recommended 12mnth/15,000km Service interval.

Please be aware that your vehicle may use some oil during this first service period. This is completely normal and as a valued NMG customer we offer a complimentary oil top up should it be required.

Gotta be happy with that, overall I've been very happy with my experience from NMG

      • The difference in quality between dealerships never ceases to amaze me.

I've considered driving my car to say hello to the dealership that told me that manual is definitely not available and that I shouldn't believe everything I read online.

        • Hi guys.... • Hi ZA, sorry not trying to be thick but what's the question? Ambient is not in the CS. Passenger SB warning works on mine as does gauge sweep - reliably, - have you made any changes to the car at all? if you have vcds is it throwing any fault codes?

Passenger sb is disabled from factory on mine as well. Guessing it has to do with each country's regulations but surely something tweakable via obd?

Gauge sweep is also inconsistent in mine. Haven't figured out what it depends on to work or not. Maybe if you open another than the driver's door first, then no sweep? Haven't confirmed that though.

                • Sorry guys for being vague... those were questions... so no ambient lighting if you have the racing seats is what I have confirmed with vw... also no seat belt warning confirmed if you have racing seats... needle sweep also inconsistent confirmed for my17 models... pretty crap if you ask me, either have it off or on.... just checking what you guys are experiencing with the above.... have checked ones without racing seats and those have the ambient lighting and search belt warning for passenger seat..
My16 models have got needle sweep working everytime

Clubsports in OZ don't get buckets even as an option so I don't think many members here will be able to share their experiences with them as no-one actually runs them.

In terms of Ambient Lighting, there still are lights at the doors and foot-well though no? For me the biggest difference is the illuminating red stripe which I agree would be a nice feature and in fact if there is one variant in which it would look less out of space it is the Clubsport.

But passenger seat belt warning, really a problem? Who in 2016 doesn't instinctively wear his seat-belt when he enters a car or even worse forgets to put it on and needs a reminder? Not talking about people that deliberately don't want to wear it, but for everybody else that wants to wear but... forgets?!

As for inconsistent needle sweep, I find it to be pretty rare and only if I do some other action first after unlocking, other than open driver's door and turn ignition on (in which case it always works). It's weird but not nearly important enough to even be considered annoying (unless you have a passenger who drives a very old car that you want to impress ...)

That been said I still wouldn't even think of getting one without the buckets. I know this might not be appreciated here but imho it loses a lot of its uniqueness (replace with: sexiness/charmness/exclusivity) without them, just not the same car in my eyes.

                        • Thanx for you reply.... absolutely spot on about the seat belts.... here in SA ones without bucket seats with leather still get the red stripe on the doors but get the normal gti trim as well....

                          • Some further tests re the needle sweep:

                            1) If you unlock the car, open the driver's door, close the driver's door and turn ignition on it >>> Needle sweep
                            2) If you unlock the car, open the driver's door, turn on ignition with the driver's door still open and then close >>> no sweep.

                            also

                            3) If you unlock the car, open the passenger's door and/or a rear door, then again no sweep.

I have to repeat these tests to ensure it's consistent but I think I am getting somewhere here.

                            • Hey Ringo.

Have you noticed if the auto headlight alignment is tied in with your tests?

When I'm able to notice, such as in a darker environment, sometimes it doesn't but most times it does work. I've read somewhere on the forum where this also happened to others.

                              • Update on the 2500rpm rattle I am having:

After it became clear the sound was different from the downpipe flex part rattle (as in pre 2017 Golf R's) that was originally suspected, it now seems to be the (common?) fuel line rattle issue.

Someone suggested this in another forum and although I hadn't had time to confirm it on mine, the video of the fuel line rattle on a 2015 GTI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXR40RQYEb4 sounds almost exactly the same as the noise I'm having and thankfully it's an easy fix that a decent VW dealership should be able to apply if you don't want to DIY, so all seems to be good again.

I do wonder though how come not everyone has this on their Clubsport... Do they forget to install a part on some vehicles or what? On the other side, a few people have reported rattles from the bucket seats whereas mine seem to be very quiet so far (touch wood)

Hi, no I haven't checked as I had my eyes on the dash I guess but I will do as I park in a garage and the xenons adjusting are always easily visible.
