Gr33nbastad, I'd be interested to know which transmission you prefer or if your Mark 8 will be manual or DSG.

Yeah, my VI was a DSG which I loved, the VII is a manual mainly because it was the last demo on the lot and I was feeling like a tight-arse. Still getting used to getting going smooth and fast in first, and into second, the box is really notchy. If you have ever had a chance to drive a manual RX-8, that was the best snickety-snick manual I have ever driven. Even Jeremy Clarkson has switched to "flappy paddles" in his GTI. My ideal R Grid spec would be cloth seats, DSG, analogue dials, Pretoria 19" wheels, performance pack brakes and exhaust..

One thing I thought I should bring up is: on my test drive in the Golf R 7.5 with larger screen, the reversing camera resolution was absolutely shocking. Fuzzy and looks out of place. Still functions but given how crisp and clear the screen is otherwise, it was such a shame VW haven't upgraded the reversing camera sensor. Will have to look into how to modify and replace it!

Hey guys, just thought to ask you guys here if any of you have a fuse layout for the MK7,5 golf? The fuse layout in the owner manual is different. Am trying to find a constant power fuse to wire up my dashcam and I haven't got a voltmeter handy.

If not not mistaken, but if your car is built after June or July this year then the car is a MY18 build already? If the vin number is WVWZZZAUZJ.... Then I believe it is MY18. But according to the specs, it doesn't have TJA. But all the hardware should be there so I'm wondering if it is as simple as coding it to enable it?

I think you are right. There is a section in the owner's manual regarding TJA assist. You need lane assist (with ALG turned on) and ACC running as well for TJA to work. By far lane assist only activates for speed above 60km/h.

My dealer told me yesterday his bulletins say TJA is in for MY18. I certainly hope so!

I will be picking up my R (7.5) with DAP pack next week - its vin number is WVWZZZAUZHW------ It's build date was 1st April 17, so does this mean I wont be able to get TJA working?

AS a new owner of a Golf R 7.5 (April build, July compliance, DSG) I can't work out why people are concerned about TJA. Mine does all the auto steering lane assistance stuff over 60 klms and all the other things line auto hold etc. etc. But these are Golf Rs, don't people want to actually interact with the driving experience? I detest the stop/start but apart from that, I am in love with my first VAG.

I think if your 10th digit was J, then it's an MY18 model.
I'm sure if you don't have it, then a coding may work to enable it. I believe the hardware is already in there.
