Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Inside Wheel Rusting - Do you have this problem ?

    Hi Guys,

I have a 2013 VW Golf Highline and a mate also has a 2013 Highline and we are both having problems with the inside of the wheel hubs on the Alloy wheels rusting, mine not as bad as his.

To explain I mean on the hub of the alloy wheel behind the spokes, (what the wheel sits on) it is all rusting, (just to be clear I don't mean the the brake disc. VW say it is normal for all cars to do it. and will not do anything about it

I have never seen a car like it before, anybody else had that problem ....

Remove the rim, rub the area back with some sandpaper / wire brush to remove any rust and debris then paint it with either silver or black hi temp paint. I did this on my Mk6 to stop the hubs from going rusty.

I took my wheel off within 1 month of taking delivery of my Wolfsburg Wagon and saw lots of rust on the hub. I was shocked but I guess they all are like that. Poor form really.
