I have only had the MY16 Golf for a week, and have seen the "Park Pilot not available" error happen twice.
Both times in the morning, and music was playing before I put in reverse gear.
To be safe, when I turn the engine on, I now turn MIB off first (if it was playing music), and then reverse ... seems to work for now

I found over time that there's no pattern to when ParkPilot checks out. It's done it to me in the middle of reversing, music on or off, phone connected/not connected.Originally posted by ozblogger View PostI have only had the MY16 Golf for a week, and have seen the "Park Pilot not available" error happen twice.

I have now had enough and booked my car in to get it updated (and a bunch of other niggles fixed at the same time).MY08 Mk5 GT Sport - sold

The only pattern that I noticed when the Park Pilot is not available, the 'long term' fuel statistic is also got reset automatically.Originally posted by Mattlock View PostI found over time that there's no pattern to when ParkPilot checks out. Have you updated Android Auto since you gave up? If connectivity is still dodgy, give this a shot:Originally posted by gh172 View PostSo far I haven't had any issues other than having trouble connecting to Android Auto which I've now given up on.
I have absolutely zero issues with AA connecting anymore. It's flawless.2016 GTI Performance | Pure White | JB1 | Dog Bone | Full Tint | Stop/Start Delete | Avatar by sandwg

Thanks Mattaus, I have updated Android Auto and I have tried everything suggested in the other thread. Unfortunately I still have ongoing issues with it. Maybe it's because I'm still using a Samsung Galaxy s4 rather than one of the current phones even though I do have the correct phone software.

After you mentioned this, I checked and my long-term stats are only showing 1/2 the km of the car so I suspect this has happened to me too.Originally posted by wilslm View PostThe only pattern that I noticed when the Park Pilot is not available, the 'long term' fuel statistic is also got reset automatically.
In slightly frustrating news, I was explaining to my dealer that I want it updated and he told me that unless I can explain the fault I'm seeing and it matches fault in the database they won't apply the update. I said how many examples of the issues do you want? He said well each issue could be a different fix and in a couple of situations, they've had to replace the entire unit, rather than flash the software.
Hmmm... So now I will see what happens in a couple of weeks when it goes in.MY08 Mk5 GT Sport - sold

Bugger. Sounds like it's the problem. All of the grunt work is still done by the phone so older phones will probably struggle.Originally posted by gh172 View PostThanks Mattaus, I have updated Android Auto and I have tried everything suggested in the other thread. Tell them to check TPI 2042834, when i reported my issue they mentioned they issue matched TPI 2042834's issue description that why my software was updated to 624 - though it has not fixed my issue.Originally posted by Mattlock View PostAfter you mentioned this, I checked and my long-term stats are only showing 1/2 the km of the car so I suspect this has happened to me too.

Ah, useful. I will add it to the list of descriptions that I will give them for all of the dumb things it currently does.

I've found Carplay to be more stable, AA can be a bit hit and miss for the initial connection, I guess it depends on the Hardware/Software revision of the Android device.

So I took my car in yesterday to get a bunch of things looked at, including the software. It misbehaved as I left the house so I took a video (black screen, iPhone saying it was an unsupported accessory) and they initially told me it would need a new head unit. On collection, they simply upgraded to software version 0624...
So let's see what happens from here.MY08 Mk5 GT Sport - sold

Well, it doesn't seem to have fixed the 'ParkPilot Not Available' error as I got it today, only 3 days after the update was applied.

Funny you should say that Matt, I have had the 'Park Pilot Not Available' error pop up during the week a few times now. Was living in hope that the SW 0624 had fixed that issue, well (touch wood) that the screen has not blacked out yet.Originally posted by Mattlock View PostWell, it doesn't seem to have fixed the 'ParkPilot Not Available' error as I got it today, only 3 days after the update was applied.
