Wolfsburg Edition Golf R

All the press pictures don't have the carbon mirror scalps though do they?

I've been looking at the press release pictures of the Golf R wagon on the web. I was under the impression that these cars are actually the Wolfsburg version. All the press pictures clearly have drilled front discs and Michelin PSSS tyres. Exhaust doesn't look like an Akrapovic but what would I know.

Probably says something like 'overseas model shown' in really small writing as I suspect these are all options on the standard R (in Europe) with the new Performance Pack items.

Got a follow up phone call from a Sydney dealership I was talking to a couple of months ago about the new Wolfsburg (different dealer to the one I deposited with). Asked him when it would come, he said April 2018 would be the date but of course he could squeeze me into a fully loaded standard R end of next month.

I said leave it with me, no real intention of getting the standard R but starting to fear if the April 2018 date is accurate. Would likely consider taking my deposit back if thats the case; I guess if they're releasing it as a 'launch' model and its coming that late, is it really worth it?

As with some of you other guys who kindly posted about the August 8 allocation date, might wait until then and see where things lie. Anyone else with a Wolfsburg order who would really wait until April 2018 for it? Would love to know what you guys think!

I made deposit about 6 weeks ago on wolfsburg hatch blue with sunroof, intially I was told AUG/SEP, last week dealer called to tell me there is a huge delay until March 2018,they are getting updates on weekly bases something to do with global demand, that what my dealer told me. Next week he will try to find more info.

From what l hear , is Wolfsburg's build date are going to be scattered over months, they are not going to build all at once .

I couldn't wait until april, but at the same time I'm not sure what I'd buy instead. Normal R if the dynaudio was an option.

That would be correct I ordered my MK7 Wolfsburg end October 2015 they promised it in two weeks then gave me the bad news it had just been built when I ordered, I picked it up just before Christmas 2015 so they are a staggered build.

Wouldn't be surprised to see further versions including the performance options down the track, these things sell like hotcakes.

I have to say after a year and a half I've now done 28000Km JB1 at 5000Km JB4 at 20000Km 265kW 485Nm turns a very quick car into a seriously quick car the chassis is so competent it handles the extra power with ease, amazes me every time I get behind the wheel. Luckily I've managed to avoid any fines I guess it's all about using the performance in the right places because in all seriousness the R is way to much for Aussie speed regime. Still deciding should I upgrade I would love the Dynaudio and 7 speed box might risk waiting for the performance pack.

So I got an email from my dealer today about my Wolfsburg. I've been told that it will be coming later in the year no official date yet and this is due to the active information displays.

Apparently there will be further announcement on 8August and that VW will be contacting those people who have preordered.

I've the JB4 too and definitely enjoy driving it enthusiastically.

Which TCU tune do you have and any comments/recommendations?

I have the Harding Performance TCU tune it handles the higher torque and sports mode will use mid range torque on part throttle where the original tune was a bit to eager to change down a gear so less manic, unless you really push it.

I have placed my order for my mk7.5 Wolfsburg the other day.. i spoke with my sales agent and he told me there is a few in the build at the moment one is mine and will hopefully have the car before October or September. they have apparently told me they have enough screens to complete orders upto Nov

Just spoken with dealer mine will not start being built till october due to arrive by december 20 if not further delayed so possiblity of jan compliance January delivery they have one coming alot sooner without roof..

Ordered back in mid June, they're now saying they can't get an allocation of the colour and option I want after saying they were individual orders so it would be fine. Apparently trying to see if any other dealers want to swap for it and obviously not likely. They're not aware of the Aug 8 date so I'm starting to question how in the know they are. Options if they can't get it include them letting me know who has one and dealing with them directly though the thought of renegotiating with new dealers and then being at the back of the queue again is not appealing at all.

They have such a great product but its a shame how they're managing this launch, I know some of the other people here are pretty annoyed at the lack of Dynaudio on the standard R, etc. Getting pretty fed up with this whole chase, if I can't get the colour and options I wanted and deposited for a while ago and requested, plus on top of that the anticipated delays maybe stretching into next year, might totally give up on the VW dream and look elsewhere. A45 looks a lot more enticing now.
