Whenever I have issues I just reconnect my phone and that normally fixes it.

Yep! Stopped using Spotify as a result. Terrible app. I use Apple Music instead now and it works great.

Yeah very buggy with IOS11. Hope they update it soon. &/or Apple fix it in the next IOS update.

I'm glad I'm not the only one then with this problem. On Friday when I was driving home from work, I couldn't even get it to recognise my phone and all I got was a blank screen. It said that it had a USB fault.

RIP CarPlay. Just died today....MIB II wouldn't detect the phone no matter how many times I plugged it in.

& MIB II Navigation also carked it - said I don't have compatible map version...which has worked for over a year...

Anyone else attending their CarPlay burial?

My CarPlay does that regularly. Disconnect the phone, hard reset the MIB2 (hold down the power button until the R logo shows up) and do the same to your iPhone (hold the Home and Lock buttons for about 10s). Wait for everything to reboot and then plug it back in.

Having said that, I’ve never had the MIB2 map fault so maybe something else has happened.

Ok ill try that....but I'm downloading the latest maps now. Hoping they'll fit on my original 8GB SD card....then I'll reset everything if it still doesn't work.

Edit....No luck....successfully updated SD card with new maps, reset MIB II, reset iPhone & Navigation screen has a "Navigation data is invalid" error message.....& it won't recognise my phone...

Will they ever support CarPlay over wifi?

I'm wondering this too. Apparently VW was one of the first car companies to have wireless CarPlay ready to demo at CES 2016, but Apple wouldn't let them. Does that mean it's there lurking ready to go? I mean the car will happily connect to my iPhone hotspot.

Right now I just use bluetooth daily, but switch to CarPlay for long trips. But wireless charging + wireless CarPlay would be a dream come true. (For me anyway)

I am also keen for wireless CarPlay. C'mon Apple, you've been talking about it for ages.

Also, if anyone else gets the issue in Spotify where you press the play button and it doesn't output sound, try switching to the radio and back again. Apparently it's a known bug and VW are working on a fix, hoping it's ready by the time I need my first service.

I’m not sure it’s Apple. I’d say it’s more like VW as I thought Wireless CarPlay came in iOS 10. I bet it just takes time to get that implemented in their head units. I reckon it will be a feature of the Mk8.

You're right, since iOS 9 apparently. Seems to suggest that BMW is still the only manufacturer with wireless and there aren't many aftermarket options. Not sure why more aftermarket manufacturers aren't jumping on the bandwagon at the very least.

Exactly although I suspect it’s down to the development lifecycle as much as anything else. Mazda don’t even offer wired CarPlay!

Yeah, my partner bought a 2015 Mazda 3 last year and was told CarPlay was Coming Soon™ and still waiting. She's a lil salty about that especially after seeing how well it works in the Golf.
