is apple car play really worth it? I think getting the 8" form Euro Car Upgrades really worth it considering you can control your music from the head unit itself. Plus the map on the 8" is so much better than apple map from CarPlay

This is true however what's the cost difference? From what I'm reading it's easily $2k going the Euro Car option.

Probably been mentioned, but the easiest way to 'create' a physical Pause/Play button whilst the Music or Spotify Apps are on screen is to turn the right MIB II left until the Pause/Play button lights up blue.

I prefer this over the touch screen as it's easier to press.

IOS10 adds the ability to rearrange App buttons in CarPlay, from your mobile device.

No more swiping across to get to commonly used Apps (Spotify etc.).

Just installed 10 so I will play with the changes tonight. There was talk that 10 might add the ability to get more data on the MFD. Has that happened?

Looks the same to me. You can move app icons around via the CarPlay menu on your phone but visually it's the same. Maps looks and operates better and music, which I don't use, looks closer to the version on my phone. Not much really, nothing to get excited about unless I'm totally missing something?

Just tested it & no, but I didn't take off. Don't think it'd make a difference - went through every MFD menu to try & find the Maps, but got nothing.

All true. The missing piece, as it's always been, is Google Maps support. It needs to happen!

Ah, cool. So one of the things I was expecting was the turn by turn in the MFD. Reading that article it sounds like it now requires VW to release an MIB2 update to support it too.

Perhaps they can do that when they fix the other bugs!

Yeah, that was one of the reasons I stretched my budget for a MY16 car. I think Euro Car Upgrades on the Sunny Coast suggested that it's about $450 for the dealer bit.

Plus going to the 8" I think allows you to go the whole hog and fit the DAB+ unit.

Yeah, my understanding is that the 8" version of the Discovery head unit is DAB+ so a full digital radio, whereas the standard 6" unit is good old fashioned analogue.

However, in addition to fitting the new head unit you have to also upgrade the aerial plus get the Dealer to unlock the encryption or it won't work.

I have a Nexus 7 tablet that i use for dev qa work occasionally, so i decided to see how good android auto is - it was a bit fiddly to get it to work on an unsupported device, but i got it working in the end.

I was so impressed with gmaps in the car i ordered a nexus 5x just to leave in the car with a data sim and i'll also put igo in it for out of town driving.

AppConnect is taking much longer to connect to the phone (IPhone 6S) over the last week or so.

It may be since the IOS 10.1.1 update, but not sure..

Anyone else getting this?
