  • Headlight Switch HELP!!!

So, i was just playing around in my new golf, and the stupidly i pushed the headlight switch in and turn it counter-clockwise (instead of clockwise). Now, i can't get it back into the off position and the car comes with a warning saying that the lights are faulty. I tried pushing it and turning it clockwise, but it won't click in. Any more force and i feel like it will break off.

    Please help!!

    Thanks.

Ummm.. broken internals now....if you pushed it down and turned clockwise and pulled it out that would remove the switch but you did it the other way....broken...VDUB..

OMG are you serious?!?!?! I am going to call up the service department tomorrow, hopefully they don't charge me too much to replace it. I have only had the car for 3 weeks T_T

You wouldn't by any chance know a rough figure for them to replace it?

      I am completely shattered!!!!!

European Headlight Switch (Euroswitch), this looks like the closest one and comes to about 65 bucks incl shipping... 65 bucks all just for a wrong turn

Hopefully i learn my lesson not to randomly rotate and/or press things.

Try warranty first, nothing to lose. If that fails the $65US will be significantly cheaper than what the dealer will charge but won't hurt to get a quote first.
Go see VW service and good luck.

BEP040: Not sure if you particularly want a Euroswitch - it has a second fog light position for the rear fogs. But your car doesn't appear to have rear fogs (from the photos). Nothing wrong with the Euroswitch if you want to add rear fogs later. If you want a direct replacement, go for the standard type switch. Ebay sell a direct replacement for your switch here (around $40 AUD).

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

                The switch looks pulled out...

Pull out for rear fogs... the car pictured doesn't have front fogs

Thanks guys. Glad to report it has been fixed. Unfortunately, it did mean replacing the switch.
