  • I have a 2 MK 7 golfs,
One with Bi-Xenon and one with LED headlights.
The Bi-Xenon throw the light much much further but the LED give a very bright close range light....
But overall I prefer the Bi-Xenon

      • Hi kachingg, what is the offset on your 19”? I am looking to get wheels from a golf gti, R or audi, but it seems all of the offset is way off and will scrup the inside if the car?

        • The offset is 51 the stock 18 inch wheels are 45
I run 235 tyres and have no issues with rubbing even at full lock

          • Picked up my new Alltrack 135TDI from Gorells in Geelong last Monday. White, with Sports Luxury Pack, towbar and "load liner", which is a fibreglass bin which fits behind the back seats. I was expecting a formed rubber tray, like I got with my my2017 Tiguan, but this could be better.
You were all spot-on about the wet plate DSG gearbox, it's a ripper. I've had 4 DSG's previously ( 3 GTI's and the Tiguan), but this new one is by far the best. The suppleness of the ride is not as good as I was hoping for, even after requiring Gorells to fit the standard 17" rims. Michelin Primacy 3 tyres are fitted (205/55's). Has anyone got any suggestions on how to soften the ride? I've tried dropping the tyre pressures to 34psi just as an experiment, without significant improvement.
I fitted a Kufatec Stop/Start deactivator today - thanks for that tip too.

              Welcome to the alltrack club

It,s a ripper of a car as you say

As for the ride i can't help you there tho i find my 19inch hankooks with the 35 sidewalls to be ok at least for me they are better than the 45 side wall 18 inch tyres that came with the car they were just a bad tyre

You can retrofit the adjustable shocks so you can get comfort mode but that's not a cheap exercise esp on a new car (tho don't ask me how much i have spent on a new car i don't wanna know!)

It's even better with a engine and dsg tune sooo much torque like you i love the 7 speed it,s a fantastic gearbox

I have a new rear liner and car mats coming from the US atm keep a eye out i will post picks stunning form fitted mats for not much more than dealer fitted ones cost me $277 au the rear mat was 200ish as well

If you want any tips on mods pm me and i will be glad to try to steer you clear of my issues

              Enjoy

              • Thanks Kachingg. I've enjoyed and benefitted from your contributions. I am still trying to find a VW that rides as well as my old Superbug "L" or Type 3 longnose, both great cars for many reasons. Ignoring my now sold 3 fluid-sprung Citroens and big Lexus, the only metal spring car that's come close was my 2009 Benz 220 CDI wagon, which had some sort of multi-rate shockers.
Does anyone know where I can get some white mirror caps? The silver ones look vomitous. Tyrewise, I might try test swapping my Tiguan's 215/65 wheels to the Alltrack to see if the ride improves. I could even try my wife's GTI 40 year wheels like you did, but they are a bit fragile on rough surfaces; already replaced 2 in 18 months.

Noted Brad. I'll try to be patient, although the thing handles so well that I'm not regretting my choice even if there is no improvement in ride quality. The (leather) seats are really good too, comfort and support.

                          • Very luxurious Kachingg. My white mirror caps arrived and are fitted, thanks to some videos on youtube. Car looks much better. I now want to source some 4-way headrests because I do a lot of snoozing in the passenger seat while wifey drives - I'm 73. I tried the ones from my Mk2 Tiguan and they fit, so the search has started. I also want extending sunvisors like our 2005 Mk5 GTI had, and the US Alltrack SEL has them. I will advise the outcome in due course. I like this VW ability to mix 'n match. Perhaps they should feature it in their advertising.

                              • Another big win, folks - the standard 17 x 7 full-size wheel fits in the spare wheel well. I'll be able to go touring when I get one.
