As a Canberran I assume you have an indirect, if not direct, interest in the public sector and so I doff my cap and say it's all in jest.

From my past experience Politicians (those people elected by electorates all over Australia) are much worse than public servants, and the career politicians are the best at dreaming up impractical crackpot schemes for wasting taxpayers money. However, their "Ministerial Advisers" are often worse still.

Australians are very adept at voting in some shockers - but agreed, the 'advisers' are some interesting cats.

Not wheels, but pulled off one of the UK forums a color discussion and noted that the Canadians have picked up what I have said should be an option here, a 'premium' color range ($3k option). Would make for some more interesting rides out there..

I tried very hard to order my R wagon in "Ginster Gelb" ( a bright yellow) but VWOz wouldn't have a bar of it. Their claim is that they weren't set up for it which is total BS as I know that certain favoured customers can do orders in special colours (it is just a pick the box option at the factory). My belief is that they are so arrogant they believe they can afford to ignore the wishes of the paying customer. To me it is just stupid, there was extra profit to be made and they passed it up.

I did note a user named gregozedobe from Australia posting in the thread so assumed you'd be in the know.

And I wholeheartedly agree - VW Oz is extremely poorly run and one has to wonder how much more sales and profitability could be achieved here if it was run by the right people.

As you said, they are willing already to do it for certain people in the know (so it's not 'impossible') and customers are willing to pay a premium for it. I know Audi had premium color choices available when I was looking at the S3, it wasn't cheap ($3-4k) but it was nice to have the option.

Anyway, the situation isn't going to change.
