  • It sounds like you're looking at max/extreme performance summer tyres. I'd definitely have a look at the pricing and availability of the following tyres:
    - Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
    - Bridgestone Potenza RE002/RE003 (003 is the newer one that has just released in the last month or so)
    - Michelin Pilot Sport 3
    - Michelin Pilot Super Sport (better dry grip than the PS3 but not as good in the wet)

All these tyres should be more than good enough for some very spirited driving. It's good to see that you understand the importance of quality tyres, too many people try to save too much money and buy used tyres or lower quality ones in the hope of saving a few dollars

    • thanks for the feedback

the region where I live is packed with hills, tight bends, and long radius fast corners, quite an entertaining ride, therefore I do care for tyres

and I found a reasonably priced Bridgestone Potenza RE 050, also I searched those Eagle F1 but they are very expensive with the USD BRL currency spike, almost 50 % more than the others aforementioned

Lucky - although that means we now expect a scenic wheel shoot once you're up and running, not just on the driveway/garage.

While I'm at it, a couple of OZ cars we've had before from different angles:

        • What do you think the new TSW Bathurst in Gunmetal would look like on a White GTI?
I'm a fan. I'm trying to get a photo of it on a GTI, but no luck yet.

It's a pretty new design but I expect pics will surface in the USA soon - because I think it's a nice design and I do love gunmetal as a color. I think it works particularly well on white.

Although a good looking set of fairly light weight genuine OZs that are for sale would fit the bill even better.

Time prevents me from doing a cleaner edit so you'll need to just live with this rough cut n paste job:

            • Haha thanks Dutch

I've know the guys who own & run TSW in Aus so I'm pushing them to hurry up and get some photos. They've got a few nice new models in the range this year.

              • Hello to everyone! Thank you very much Dutch77 for your thread which was really inspiring for me. I'm going to upgrade my wheels soon (in two months' time to be exact) and I would like to add my findings.
Here they are, Rays' Homura 2x5s. they are cast wheels (well, I couldn't afford their forged series -G25 and G27 to be precise- ).
They come in a single colour, which is diamond cut side/clear black which changes the shade of the wheel according to the exterior light/angle of light. The centre cover is said to be aluminium and not plastic, but I found that on forums, not on Rays Wheels site which states...nothing, except of the dimensions and pricing.
                Here you go

                And in estate form:

I purchased them in 8Jx18 form with ET43 (they come with ET50 too) but there is no official weight announced. I found on a Chinese forum that they are 8.5 Kg, but who knows? I guess I'm going to find out when they arrive.

TSW's range is pretty spot on.. and I'd expect them to show up on a Mk7 sooner or later.

Looks good - the Rays wheels are good quality, there's a few guys on here who I suspect might rather sleep with a set than a lady. I'd believe the 8.5kg figure, would sound about right. I have seen OZ Ultraleggeras in 18 x 8 quoted at 8.0kg; I have Leggera HLTs currently fitted also in 18 x 8 but they're due to come off shortly so if I remember I will finally chuck one on the scales.

Keep trying. Maybe photoshop next time first?

At least we are continuing the world exclusives on this thread thanks to you!

A battleship colored GTI with black rims might be the go..

I'm surprised it looks like it's poking so much, despite the specs it has been lowered. The Mk7 has more room so would almost get away with it, but pretty sure they have an ET45 available.

I don't mind the look there, but don't love it. I still think they'd work better on the Mk7 and on white.

On a separate note, while the thread has had a couple of digital works lately here's one more:

                            • so, the wheels arrived, they are beautiful, they are made by Ronal, they still have the factory stickers and the manufacturing date, 12 September 2014, printed on, really in a good condition

now, it's up to the tyres, found a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx TT 205/45 R18 and a set of Dunlop LM 703 215/40 R18, both new, made after 2013, price around 430,00 and 500,00 in our currency, 30 to 50 % more affordable than those cheapest P Zero and Potenza prices I've found, and both of them have a reasonable diameter, 641 and 629 mm, compared to the 632 mm found at these 205/55 R16 originally fitted
