Great choice have you decided on a tyre size? 225 or 235 or 245?

True size? Using willtheyfit.com I’ve “chosen” 235/40/18 as my tyre size, simple because it gave the least amount of Speedo change. I understand the width in mm can be varied on the same rim, it I haven’t yet looked into wider vs narrower vs sweet spot width on a given rim, and what pros/cons they have. Here's the willtheyfit.com calculation of the stock 19"s vs 18x8 w 235/40/R18 tyres.

Assume that going wider/narrower than a sweet spot would give some but negligible change in overall wheel diameter, and therefore Speedo change.

I usually swap my cars in less time than it takes to pick out a set of wheels.

235/40 on the 18 x 8s is fine; the 18 x 7.5 stock VW wheels are 225/40, but for a long time the 235/40s were far cheaper as it was the Falcodore sizing for 18s.
