Said goodbye to the GTI and hello to Captain Sensible Highline.......... The GTI was fun but time to get a Golf for the longer term 3 years and economy was king.

Feels very sluggish after the GTI.

Its not all bad, packed it out with goodies, one being the Nav Pro - With maps for Australia. I'm not sure if this is V3 or V2 as I have not yet received the SD card and DVD case, that's is still an open ended issue with the dealership.

      Some picks -

Overall I'm very pleased with the Nav Pro, worth the $$ premium? not so sure.

What l/100km were you averaging in the GTI?
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

To be honest I rarely checked, at times when filling the car up I would make a conscious decision to drive less heavy footed....rarely did it last, the power on tap, the exhaust note, the smile on my face......hard to resist, pop it into sport mode and listen to the DSG pop-fart.

I think it was around 9L/100Km from memory. One thing I do know, I drove a Highline prior to the GTI and the frequency of petrol station visits was greater than the Highline.

I going to miss this great car....

            So,
I too am keen on the Nav pro. Not least cause my rns510 has video capability, and I don't want to step back in time regarding features.

If I buy the mk7, I'll need to buy the Nav pro separately and then have it fitted, and then have a friendly vw dealer 'authorise' the maps software?

On the VW UK site, it says the maps are able to be updated for free for three years of initial purchase date. The link is to a company called HERE.COM and they are owned by Nokia.
            VW_Discover_Pro

Confusing that Nokia are doing the map technology for VW, yet Apple are claiming Audi are a partner in their alternate solution.

Any one actually got a Nav Pro unit in their Oz VW ...?

I'm pretty sure Audi have always been working closer with Android and nVidia as far as conceptual infotainment demos go

                    Hi there,
Would you have a full scan of your 5F Information Electronics Unit
We are working on a solution for retrofits of the unit and this would help heaps if possible.

Hi, I do not have access to VCDS at the moment, any info I can provide outside of using VCDS just ask.

it looks like we have a solution both for Component Protection and maps activation, being tested now for Aussie vehicles

liquidforce: you probably already have this, but if not, you can find a copy of the 5F control module adaptation map for a 103TSI here

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

OK, my bad. It's from the standard Discover Media unit in Australia! Thought that's what you wanted, sorry!
