I have the Discover Pro VI that Eurocar fitted for me as soon as i received my new 2015 Golf R in Jan.

I love it and have not regretted the cost for one second. Every time i sit in a new VW Golf i am astounded that the importers put such a cruddy little screen in when the 8" is available. To not have it even as an option is borderline criminal.

If you are sitting on the fence, just do it! Its a bit scary modifying your car, but you will not look back.

Oh and definitely stump for the Helix Amplifier & Subwoofer it makes a MASSIVE difference. I have not heard a better stock system in ANY car. It makes people start looking for the 12" sub in the boot. It also significantly improves the front end.

What was involved with installing the new amplifier/subwoofer and the associated financial hit? Would love a bit more low end but the stock system on the 5.8" system is probably better than any other stock system I've ever heard (not including premium systems).

CarPlay is pushing me over the edge for the new MIB2 unit, the price is holding me back...

long bow. MY16 Passat Highline comes with the discover pro 8. if one was to obtain the active info display dash that needs the DP8 to work hand in hand can it be retrofitted and or what other items / modules would be needed. if you have the heads up on this already. thanks

Wow! Kudos to Euro Car Upgrades - that's very impressive!!

When I read gokartgti post, I thought that such a task would be impossible because of the gen 5 immobiliser in the mk7 (which I had understood needed the identification and status data to be read out of the old immobilizer components and then sent as an encrypted package back to the FAZIT database at VW's HQ) and component protection (which I had thought included J285 -the control module in the dash panel - and therefore another FAZIT connection).

But it's good to know that such an exercise as this avoids an (expensive) visit to a friendly VW dealership!

Not to hijack your thread... Awaiting delivery of vehicle so no VIN to PM you with. I have located an Active info display I'm awaiting on the part number to confirm that its a unit that can display in english. The place in question will sell it only with the DP8 so I'm waiting on the part number for that too (not that i have a need for 2 DP8's). Having said that, if they are from a vehicle (car was written of and items work) will it cause a headache as opposed to getting a new item as the cluster would have the sec key or am i way off track here. I take it from your response that in essence I only need the cluster itself once VIN supplied to confirm.

While I'm typing away. Dynaudio.... worth the fit out (If you can get a hold of it) or whats the best, best option next to the Dynaudio or is the DP8 set up suffice. Having said that I wasn't too fussed with what the MK6 GTI had...in stock form

Here's an even longer bow, Euro Car Upgrades - do the Mk7 and the B8 Passat share a common-sized instrument cluster, and if so, could the Active Info Display potentially be retrofittable to a Golf R (if it was done in conjunction with an upgrade to the required Discover Pro unit)?

Also, is it possible to enable Hill Descent Control on the Haldex-equipped R's through VAGCOM?

hi cgjay, I dont believe the G7 and B8 Passat share the same cluster, even if they do it might not be possible to remove CP due to parts incompatibility.

You should be able to activate the hill descent though.
