    • So...my dealer only offered some touch up paint for the scratch that I only discovered 1 week post delivery (it was touched up and only discovered it after cleaning it for the first time (http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ml#post1043397). Was told hey it isn't that noticeable. Right.

Ridiculous. Couldn't be bothered arguing with them and they didn't seem interested anyway, left and got a quote from a panel beater.

      • That's very poor and very disappointing.
(? Is it appropriate to name and shame in these forums? It would db good to know which dealers to avoid.....)

Consumer affairs the way to go: or name and shame to alert other unspecting future customers.

In my opinion sales was good...it's after you hand them the money that things start to go downhill IMO.

Fair enough that it's hard to tell WHO caused the damage after you drive off with the car (he said she said) but it's just appalling that predelivery repairs/checks are not up to standard. Sure it's on the buyer to inspect the car thoroughly but how was I supposed to spot a repair (poorly done but it still obscured the scratch) + it was in such a strange location.

You'll find the name of the dealer a few pages back. It's not the first time I've heard bad things about them but they are a big dealership so that's why I decided to get it off them without any fuss.

            • ^ fair enough. Hows the PP working for you otherwise? Nice looking package (and smart for future resale as no need to add on options - having said that I would consider leather but at a hefty 3k sticking with the std alacantra/suede/tartan seats a good compromise).

Yeah, maybe it was a single person or perhaps the tinters that damaged it and decided to cover it up. Who knows. I just know I'm paying for somebody's incompetence, I'll let karma do the rest.

I'm looking at selling it after 2 years (decided to relocate, I'm not from around here, definitely gonna miss Australia) so yeah standard package would definitely make it easier to sell in the future.

I drove my sister's Mk 7 GTI back where I'm from, but that was a while ago so I can't really compare the drive. But it's definitely bumpier with the 19" wheels even with ACC set on "Comfort". Haven't pushed it to it's limits so not sure when or if the LSD has ever kicked in, would definitely like to track it at least once. Love the LED tail lights as well, looks aesthetically pleasing (although it would not have bothered me if they were the standard tail lights on the regular GTI). She had leather as standard on her car but I'm not too keen on leather especially when it gets hot and just the feel of it. And I wouldn't pay 3k for it too. Tartan/Alacantra feels/looks good! She has keyless and a MDI port and Discover Pro on hers so I kinda miss the big screen and the convenience of not taking my key out. The Australian version also lacks motorised folding mirrors. The Santiago rims are starting to grow on me although diamond cut lacquered wheels will be a pain to repair if you ever get them scratched.

I think the whole package is let down by a poor infotainment system that doesn't work that well (voice control doesn't work, when I press 'Media' with my iPhone connected it starts playing music straight away, if I mute the radio when entering a carpark and I decide to turn off/start my car again it doesn't stay muted and I hear static, can't browse playlists via bluetooth etc).

But otherwise I'm loving my car, great look + got a few head turns from fellow GTI/Golf drivers.

On my base mk7 it stays muted.

I've noticed the only people who seem to pay attention to my GTI are other VW drivers haha. Fine by me though.

Back when i bought a Hyundai Veloster (in the first month they were out), it was like driving around with Justin Bieber in the passenger seat, everyone would stop and gawk at it

Is there anything to distinguish the PP from the Standard GTI other than the wheels?
I would hazard a guess that most people turning their heads are just noticing the fact it is a VW rather than the GTI PP specifically.

So nothing really noticable other than the wheels.
You can get the Xenon's on the standard GTI can't you?

                              Just the wheels.

Yeah I've got xenons on my normal GTI.
