    Hey Jimmi,

    When did you order?

    • Mid October. The way my dealer described it to me is they have a slot to submit factory orders once a month but October and November didn't allow this for the GTI. Others on here who are receiving theirs sooner either found a car matching their spec here or already on the way, or their dealer had a confirmed build slot that they could adjust the specs of to suit the customer. It seems like we didn't have that luxury. Hopefully the order can get away this month.

I have now called and been told that they can see the build date is on the system .. they have no idea when they will know ..

I was not happy with this so I called Volkswagen no assist, who told me they cant see the ordering system unless I have a VIN,

Told they cant help ... how long should it take to get a build date any idea ...
spikeyboy22, I got the exact same reply. I've been quoted by my dealer the build of my car started over 4 weeks ago!!! (5th week this week). Since then, still no VIN.

I have been left in the dark about the scheduling of delivery for my car with no useful updates. My contract states if no delivery date is specified the dealer must deliver the car within 3 months of signing the contract (which is 3 Jan 2014). Doesn't look promising to meet this date.

Adding to this, my dealer has not been contacting me with updates. Rather I have been contacting/asking him constantly for the VIN number. He keeps telling me that his manager is the only person who can acquire this on the system. I am not sure about the validity of what he is telling me as this is my first car I have purchased new (always had second hand cars to use from parents).

However, I expect my dealer to let me know my VIN number sometime next week (or definitely before Christmas).

Disappointed in lack of customer services from my dealer and excited about my car at the same time!

Good luck to all those who are also awaiting their VIN.

            • Picked my Tornado Red manual GTI today at lunch time.. I was sorely tempted to not go back to work and just go for a blast through the Dandenongs.

Oddly, there was no GTI badge on the tailgate. I didn't notice it when I picked it up, nor did any of the dealer jerks. My 11 year old daughter noticed it when I picked her up from school!

Called the dealer who's express posting a badge out to me today, apparently it comes with a positioning template in the pack.

I have to agree with you. I have not heard this from where I purchased the car but the other dealer visited said that if I ordered Volkswagen Australia have so many gti build slots but these would be used to build the gti performance and R for Australia. But if a dealer had a order they could put the case forward to get one of these slots...

I think our dealers have not done this ...

                • Despite several dealers not returning calls and not being that interested in making a sale I persevered and today ordered a Mk7 DSG GTI in white with all the options. Having previously owned a Mk6 TSI I'm sure I'll be wrapped with the GTI. One thing I'm not sure of and was wondering if anyone can shed some, er, light on the question is in regard to bi-xenons. I agreed to this as the car on the water already has it fitted but the dealer didn't think they move when turning corners (i.e. they're just static like my mk6 Tsi). Can anyone with bi-xenons on their MK7 GTI tell me if the Australian spec halogens actually bend around corners as the steering wheel is moved? If they don't it seems a lot to pay for them.

                    SAM,
Make the dealer put the badge on, that's very very poor service from them and I don't know how that would have been missed in their however many thousand dollar "dealer delivery" fees. That is very clearly their responsibility. I don't mean to sound paranoid but you need to make sure that they have not put another car's boot on your GTI due to damage etc. Check for any overspray marks around the boot edges, broken glass in the boot/under the carpet. Also check overspray or repair work under the boot Matt and carpet and on the boot floor. Look for overspray on the glass as well. Maybe also check that it has a GTI engine up front!
Seriously, that is terrible service. It is very important that the boot badge is placed in exactly the right position because otherwise people will question whether your car has been in an accident. Repairers often put them in the wrong position.
Otherwise enjoy the car! I'm sure it's brilliant.

                      ihawk,
My Mk 6 GTI with bixenons turned with the wheel, I'm sure the Mk 7 bixenons would turn as well. By law xenons have to at least move up and down so as not to dazzle oncoming cars and have washers to clean the front lenses because dirt can apparently cause the light to reflect badly and again dazzle oncoming driver's eyes. Check an online brochure for specs. My new Merc A250 has bixenons but they don't have the turning feature, only on the A45. They do however still check that they are functioning properly at start up by moving up and down. The GTI did this as well but then both out and both in. It's very cool to freak people out on the street as you start up the car! They do this every time you start the car. You'll be very happy with the xenons,I couldn't have anything else now.

                          • I'm in Singapore on holiday and drove my sister's DSG GTI, the main differences are the 8" Discover Pro and the fact that the USB ports are replaced with an MDI slot and it came with a standard Apple 30-pin cable. Using an iPhone 4S I was able to charge and display album art but call functions did not work over MDI. Keyless entry/start is also standard and definitely is more convenient although the sensitivity of the touch-sensitive thingamajigs on the handle are a bit finicky sometimes. GPS doesn't have voice navigation though, maybe it's a regional thing.

I'm kinda used to the 8" Discover Pro and it's a pity that VW AU doesn't offer that as an option because the regular Discover system looks a bit small now.

Overall I liked the drive and can't wait for my PP to get here!

                            Standard options are listed here:

I'm playing the waiting game too...... My car is in the system but has not been allocated a build date yet.
Was originally told February, but now they are guessing at May ??????
I ordered a Red GTI with all options except leather.

Funny thing is that the 8" is standard on the new Skoda Octavia elegance, and you can get kessy plus the sound system in the tech pack, neither are available in any of the Golf 7's at the moment...
