Can someone that has a GTI with Bi-Xenon lights tell me if both the U-shaped daylight running lights around the 2 front lights are lit up like on the Golf R or is it just one?
All the pictures that I've seen only show one.

Only one on each side lights up. Been wanting to ask if we can turn both on from the vcds. But didn't wanna sound dumb at the same time :')
As n0d3 said its hardware related, the GTI and R headlights are two different units - on the GTI there is no hardware or electronics wired up. You would need to buy replacement R units (costly) and then try coding out the errors on VCDS. Not worth the cost or headaches.

The list price of a manual GTI is $41490 yet put any QLD postcode into VW's website and the driveaway price is $47089. So that's a markup of $5599 which includes dealer delivery and statutory costs. Now last year those statutory costs (registration, 3rd party insurance, stamp duty and administration fee) on my Golf came to $1472.30 and I'd expect this to be a couple of hundred $'s more for the GTI only because of extra stamp duty. So are VW dealers really trying to charge around $4000 delivery? Norris VW at Kedron (Brisbane) tried to charge me $2995 but that was easy to remove as a discount. Wippells VW in Toowoomba at the same time were charging around $2350 IIRC and wanted to keep much of it. What are some of the dealer delivery charges people are seeing?
btw I notice a base Golf like mine is listed at $21490 and advertised on VW's website at $22990 driveaway, so after paying the statutory charges it looks like there is no room for dealer delivery at all.

Vehicles like that subject to VW promotion would be rebated/incentivised by HQ back to the dealer.
I believe the delivery should be around $2495 before 'negotiation'.. per the invoice I posted last week it was reduced to $1,495 I believe under corporate pricing possibly.

Hey congrats.
Similar to mine with a pickup next week.
Red, DSG, leather.
My first VW car. I hope it will be as trouble free as my Accord. I have to admit that hearing reports of bad DSG gearboxes almost made me change my mind about getting this car.

Congrats on taking the plunge to purchase your first new Volkswagen, but if reliability is a high priority, you almost certainly have taken a gamble based on the reliability of the previous generations of Golf models, if not the whole range. VW enthusiasts hope the new Golf 7th generation will be better, but it's early days. You would think VW has worked hard to ensure no repeat of the bad press relating to the DSG, and the early signs are promising. From my experience, electrical gremlins are the biggest worry, with some failures of supplier sourced electrical items being inevitable. Having a standard and even extended warranty provide some protection, but all my failures have been outside of this period. I put up with these inconveniences because I love my car and everything about the GTI model, only upgrading to an R, which I consider a natural progression. Any true VW enthusiast must be more understanding than a Japanese car brand buyer.
