    • Issue updating 2013 Mk7 Golf Highline Sat Nav to new 2020 maps. Do I need to update Firmware?

I recently purchased a used 2013 Mk7 VW Golf Highline. It was still operating the 2013 Sat Nav Maps version (5G0919866A 0022 ROW 2013). Running a Discover Media MIB 1 Unit, SW Train MSTD_EU_VW_P3163. I'm in Australia.

I went to the VW Map update site (https://app-connect.volkswagen.com/mapupdates/en/car/#selection)
and followed the process for downloading the correct Vehicle Year, Infotainment unit and region map (World) update Zip file. File downloaded was P57_N60S3MIBS2_ROW_NT.

I followed the process of formatting my VW SD card and then unzipping the contents directly to the SD card, using the same file structure of the original 2013 file (Markets etc), unfortunately when I reinserted the card, I get the message that the Map Data is Invalid.

I just returned from the local dealership gettting my Golf serviced and the dealer was unable to update the Maps either (suspect thast they were just following the same process), stating it may be an issue with the age of the vehicle (a very weak excuse for a 13yo vehicle – No issue with updating a 14yo Mazda 3).

I have read in other forums that I may need to update the firmware to get new maps to work. Does anyone know how to get this to work? Has anyone had the same issue? Really frustrated ATM.
