  • there is that Golf7 bias again. it seems in nearly every post in that thread, the issue that a few had were when big trucks or busses were near, did you test that on the skid pan?

You can chat to the other 50 journos there, it did work perfectly. What do you expect me to say. The car performed to specification, with the vehicle retardation system, having been triggered by the Logic VDM Computer due to inputs of an oncoming collision coming from the front radar as well as camera, proceeded to decelerate the vehicle at 0.6 G, until the vehicle was completely stationary...

I had it out on the road, it worked well too...

      • I am sure it did work perfectly. But in real world situations, e.g as per that thread, a bus slightly in your lane, or pulling into a fast moving traffic queue to overtake something, it can occasionally be triggered it seems.

If there's one thing that might make it work poorly it's that the radar/camera has been placed very low in the bumper, close to the road. Firstly in Europe, the glass will be completely opaque from the slush, the salt and the general dirt from the road. And in the long run it will probably get scratched by stones, gravel...

The camera is placed on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror, not under the bumper. The radar on the other hand is placed on the bumper. The radar doesn't use vision to detect objects, it uses radio waves or sound, so wouldn't be impacted by dirt or slush.

Oops, my bad... Still it might have an impact on the system's performance...

Pipe down Golf7 - I went for a ride with the VW Sales manager and he mentioned the exact same thing - its a flaw with auto cruise.

                  • Audio artwork on new golf

                    Guys,

Picked up my new golf highline today, I cant see the album artwork when connected via bluetooth from my Android phone.
Is there a fix to this or does artwork only display when connected via USB/SDCard source?

                    Cheers

                      • Anyone read about Subarus EyeSight Crash Avoidance/Cruise system? It's camera based and apparently it deactivates if blinded by sun low in the sky.

Mate I've literally had it for about 6 hours now - out of that time I've driven it 30mins total lol.
This is my first VW/ DSG equipped car.

                          Good:
1.4ltr is zippy as fk! Really picks up and goes when you plant it.
Handling wise, i was finding it comfortable to take corners, roundabouts at higher speed much like my previous Wrx STi.
Suspension doesnt feel too soft, yet firm enough for above mention handling.
Steering wheel feels great and small
Can feel the difference between Normal/Sport mode (I have driver assist package installed).
I had 4 passengers in the car, all commented how big it felt at the back.

                          Bad:
noticeable 1st gear lag when taking off from the lights for example.
Discover Media isnt 100% like I think it should be.. (Voice-?/Traffic-doesnt work in Aus/Artwork - not sure if it works on bluetooth?)

                          thats about it so far!

Sorry Waxdass, I know mate, I am just excited, I have the 110d highline on order, so just looking for any information.

Get out there and enjoy it.

I felt the lag because of the start / stop thing ...

Its not the start/stop - thats expected - its just 1st gear lag in general. This goes away in Sport mode though.

Does anyone know what the album art avatar size should be?
Some of my album pics don't optimize the given space.

I'm in the same boat, struggling to work out how to get album art...or even just the song name on the screen. I've heard it only works through SD cards and usb drives plugged in.

On another note, does anyone know the method to get Radio logos onto the discover media system?
