Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I ordered my Golf back on the 1st March and was told its due mid-late June, this was confirmed via email the other day.
When ordering my TDI Highline with R-line pack the sales guy had a calendar with all the build times verses delivery times for that build, so far we are on track for this information. The only thing holding it up would be customs.
One of my wife's work mates ordered a Passat and when it was at the docks some grain was dropped on a bunch of cars and this held up the delivery because it needed to be decontaminated and what ever else they had to do..... Just hope this does not happen to mine! I want it sooo bad.

I was promised 2-3 weeks and waited almost 3 months.. but that was a minor miscalculation as to when my car was built and freighted. Fortunately the mistake was picked up early and all was well, particularly as I was in no rush. Scored a GTI beanie and plate extension fee as 'compensation' so all good.
From what I can see most dealers are a lot more familiar with order times and the VW system and/or are aware that so many of their buyers are forum visitors and are informed compared to when the Mk6 came out, when a lot of BS floated around.

I ordered mine Tuesday and am told 4 weeks at the most. I selected off a list that was arriving or already in customs I think? Factory order was looking like Sept.
I do know that with scarcity of some colours and option combos that dealers are not willing to pass cars around. I ended up with white over Night Blue for this reason and I'm having leather retro-fitted rather than wait on a factory order (so no heated seats).

What sort of wait times have people been quoted for a GTI?
I'm looking to buy either a DSG GTI or GTI PP, however my local dealer tells be I'd be waiting until xmas (approx 6 months) for a GTI, however could have a GTI PP in a few week. Does this reflect what other people have been told?

I managed to get the exact spec I would have ordered quicker by getting a PP and got the extra benefit of the diff. I was also able to negotiate a better deal as it was in stock rather than a custom order

Yesssssss! Finally got my hands on my new Golf 110TDI DSG Silver, Leather, Sunroof, Driver Assist and it's really great. The adaptive cruise control is just magic. There was a time that people would have been burnt at the stake for such wizardry.
The Mk7 seems to be light years ahead of my last Golf which was a TDI 103 DSG Mk5. I drove that one for eight years with no problems whatsoever.

I find with the ACC in stop start traffic that its best to set it to the traffic's flow speed not the speed limit, otherwise it accelerates and brakes too hard. And don't you love how it restarts the engine when the car in front of you moves off?--
