I've been inspired by a North American owned GTI that was satin white wrapped (original car was white as well). It looks really good, but the amount of wrap I need is close to $1k delivered so I'm wondering if it'll even be worth it. Probably not.Originally posted by sergioscirocco View Post2016 GTI Performance | Pure White | JB1 | Dog Bone | Full Tint | Stop/Start Delete | Avatar by sandwg

Do you have pictures of this car? or the wrap you are talking about?Originally posted by mattaus View PostI've been inspired by a North American owned GTI that was satin white wrapped (original car was white as well). Sorry, forgot I posted here and don't have email replies on :/Originally posted by sergioscirocco View PostDo you have pictures of this car? or the wrap you are talking about?
This is the build thread with the page where he wraps the car. There are better photos later on in the thread. The satin finish is weird. Gives that matte look without losing the shininess. There is a video at some point in the thread where he is trying to demonstrate the noise change from a GFB DV+ (I think) and the wrap effect can be seen more clearly but I can't find the specific page at the moment (plus I'm at work lol). The whole build thread is quite impressive. Serious attention to detail.
This would be the wrap.
You obviously have a white Golf R. If you are seriously contemplating having your car wrapped (or DIYing it), let me know and maybe we can get a discount on a bigger order or something. If you're interested of course!Last edited by mattaus; 01-09-2015, 09:11 AM.2016 GTI Performance | Pure White | JB1 | Dog Bone | Full Tint | Stop/Start Delete | Avatar by sandwg

Thanks Matt for this information, really good thread, I was just curious to see how a white matt car could look like, it looks good but I rather spend that money in something else in my car, I like my shinny finish, if I was going to wrapp something I would probably do the rest of the roof to all black and a few details in the car not big deal.Originally posted by mattaus View PostSorry, forgot I posted here and don't have email replies on :/

Are you planning in wrapping yours?

Thanks for digging up the photos and video! The OP goes into serious detail fixing rattles and making tiny changes I would just not have thought about. Certainly a few things I'll be looking out for with my car.
I'm thinking about it, but it'll cost close to $1k to do it myself. There's not many complicated panels on the Golf's so it wouldn't be too difficult. I think part of the appeal of the car above is that he de-badged it as well so it looks very clean. I'm not a fan of de-badging so I wouldn't do that, and it's possible part of the satin effect would be lost as a resultOriginally posted by sergioscirocco View PostAre you planning in wrapping yours?
I think I'd rather actually wrap all the black parts in gloss black and leave the car gloss white perhaps, but then these parts would be much harder to wrap. I do have the tools to wrap (yay late night drunken purchases) so I'm sure I'll do something along those lines eventually.
Who knows. I might have another drunken splurge and end up with a thousand dollars worth of satin white vinyl wrap lol.
On another note, the turbo muffler delete sounds great. I note the APR product is $280. I could probably have my own machined from a single piece of titanium for less than that. Would need a big billet though, and heaps of wasted material. Question is should I even bother
