Yap indeed that’s called the APR crackle map. Sounds like the Mercedes popping and cracklings!!!!

    • APR crackle map is good but you need to be stage 2 and to get the full effect yourself in car need either full TBE or DP with Res delete. Just DP alone is too quiet in car IMO. I had that and then added the BCS res delete and I'm more than happy with the result.

      • Curious on Golf R pricing..

Mk7.5 metallic paint, DAP and sunroof but no dynaudio. Currently have an offer at $59.9k.

It's either this or I do a factory order and include dynaudio..

        Any thoughts?

        • I haven't heard the Dynaudio, (like the unit in my Highline though), but if they have the car on the way or in stock I'd be pushing them a bit harder on price - 58k?

          • Just got my Wolfsburg and the Dynaudio is better than the Harmon Kardon in our old A45

Agree Dynaudio is a fantastic sound system the clarity is incredible even for older ears no boom just powerful clear sound. If you hear it you'd buy the car just for the Dynaudio.

                  • Triple agree on Dynaudio. It is brilliant. It cacks all over any other standard car stereo I’ve ever heard. It makes the Bose in my wife’s CX-9 sound awful.

                    • Can’t say I’ve turned the Dynaudio up past halfway as it’s LOUD , it does sound good though.
I find it a touch front bias , those tweeters sing a bit too much at my face.
Had no distortion, just loose things rattling in the door compartments.
Nice to have and admit to visiting the car when had a couple of drinks just to listen to a couple of songs that require inappropriate volume.

                      • Has any experienced when their R is in stop start mode to have a warning ‘engine needs to be started manually’ display.?

Then have to put the car in Park and start engine again? It’s happened twice this month.

                        • You know what, I've discovered this is exactly the reason! Each time I restart car burbles gone, reswitch from race --> individual (or back to race) or vice versa and burbles come back!

What is mechanism creating burbles, is there any exhaust valve actuation going on or purely ECU putting more fuel out the back? Considering speaking to dealer as to whether this is fixable and what might be causing this inconsistency?

Love the exhaust burbles on overrun (7.5R) but notice burbles disappear then reappear (car is always in race/sport mode).

Got car back from dealer who put car in individual mode and immediately noticed burbles in sport mode which wasn't there for a while prior. When switching back to race they seem to stay around the disappear after a while. Putting it back to individual seems to 'reset' things.

                          Thoughts?

I've noticed that each time you restart the car they disappear unless you manually select the mode again (even if the dash says you are still in race). Each time I start the car I reselect race or individual to make sure they are there.

Burbles are simply the result of ECU initiated over fueling whilst the throttle is in the closed position. Think of them as tiny backfires, just taking place in the the cylinders and not in your exhaust system (thankfully). IMHO, I still think it's linked to (a normal) operating temperature, and that'd be the oil, not the water. If anyone's been watching their oil temp, they'll know it trails the water by a good few minutes in reaching it's plateau. Is everyone changing their drive mode at the beginning of their drive, as soon as they've realised their overrun music is missing. If so, of course, this corresponds with a near-cold engine block.

I'm having my screen replaced tomorrow morning for it. I took it in when there was 1 single line, some shady dealer was like "Nah, the screens are meant to be like that, it's just how they are in the new Golf R's" to which I instructed him to go look at a new R on the showroom floor and he came back a little sheepish.

Then, had to take the car in a second time so they could simply "take a photo of it to send to VW". At that time there were 2 lines.

Fast forward to now and there are 4 of the little ****ers
