I wouldn't consider the current model either. The tech upgrades in the new model are IMO too significant to settle for the current model. I really do not like the current model's infotainment system.
True, I deliberately went after an MY16 car when I could have picked up a new MY15 because of the standard leather and AppConnect. The 7.5 is well worth holding out for, if you are in the market.

From memory if you check the prior article from caradvice which didn't have the Wofie pricing, the author reported Dynaudio being an option on the standard R. Do correct me if I'm wrong though.
ADDIT: As per the new caradvice article, Dynaudio not an option on the standard R 7.5. Tears.
No big stereo ??? What ?? Ordered my 7.5 last week and just assumed the Dynaudio was part of the DAP as it's been for ages. Shattered. Definitely calling the dealer tomorrow.
2017 - Golf R 7.5 - Blue - DSG - Proper Roof - DAP - Res' delete - Dynaudio delete
2008 - Mazda 2 - (Maybe my first child scared me a bit) -1998 - Wrx (modded up to but not including forged pistons)
1988 - Corolla TwinCam - (couldn't insure a 323 Turbo)
1967 - Tonka Tip Truck - Red with 2 inch plastic rims and a massive sand scoop.
Hi guys ... an update to the Fender audio inside the DAP option, here's a cut and paste from my dealer ... --- - - - - - - Hi Stephen, I hope you are well. As we only have limited specs on new model, I can’t see the Dynaudio systems in the specs for the Golf R, but the only two options we can order for Golf R are Sunroof and Driver assistance, below it list of what is included in the Drivers Assistance package.
Driver Assistance package
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Lane Assist
Blind Spot Monitor
Rear Traffic Alert
Park Assist (not available for Golf R)
Proactive occupant protection system
Dynamic Light Assist
I hope this information helps J - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - So, a wishful thinker like me would focus on the "limited info" phrase and hope it hasn't been finalised yet. Maybe some haggling going on between Germany and Dynaudio for inclusion in all Rs, not just Wolfburgs. I know, I know .. very wishful.

there is no way that the comfortline, highline, GTI and GTI performance edition 1, can get the Dynaudio via the infotainment pack and whereas the regular R can not
While we're talking about the options list, anyone know where the "Traffic Jam Assist" went ?

Guys .... Re:- exhausts ... I'm planning a de-resonate on the R not long after I get it. But remembering my Rex with no resonator all those years ago, highway trips were a little boomy. Can anyone describe the noise levels on the quietest setting with no resonator ?

I've been reading up on this on other forums over the weekend. If it's the only change you make, it probably is the cheapest way to make the exhaust sound better. Some complain of too much noise or drone but often they have a down pipe and or flap mod as well. Some of them are probably old women too. Some even complain that it upsets throttle response, fuel economy and power - I can't see how that would be.
Another thing to bear in mind is that the Mk 7.5 R has a better sounding exhaust with more emphasis on popping and crackling especially on the over run. Might want to put a couple 1000 kms on it before you chop out the resonator. At least it's an easy mod to reverse if you don't like it.
I'm going to see how my new wagon goes for a while before even thinking about the exhuast. My wife was horrified when I suggested making it louder. She says that the whole house shakes as it is with the standard Mk 7 hatch and work can hear me coming even though they can't see me.
