While the Alltrack was being serviced last week I had a chat to the sales manager and he said they're expecting the price to be $60k including onroad costs.

This is utter rubbish! Firstly NZ would sell no where near as many VW's as Australia, so why should they get it first!
Secondly they are getting the non detuned version, the whole warm weather is such a cop out. The A45 came to the country at full spec and it has more kw per liter. Really VGA?
Thirdly I can bet the discover media pro will (like the rest of the golfs) be not available to the Australian market!
Honestly the tossers at VGA who decide what they think We do and don't want in our cars should be fired! Just give us the euro spec ones and be done with it!
Maybe they should let some of us forum lads call the shots up top :p
Sorry about the rant. Just rather over VGA

NZ got the GTI before us as well, remember?
NZ generally has a cooler climate than Aus.
As far as navigation goes Au/NZ are usually grouped together so I see them getting the Pro as a good sign for us (although it'll still be a $2000+ option no doubt plus extra fees for online data (Google Earth) access). Audi also have also told me that the S3 will get the Audi Connect option some time later in 2014.

The Nav Pro is an option on the GTI in NZ but it isn't here so I don't think we can infer we'll get the Pro here on the R from that. Also the GTI is about $60k in NZMY14 MK VII GTI | Pure White | Manual | Bi-Xenons (his)

That's the same for the Octy here. While the RS launched there quite a while ago, I was under the impression that it was a soft launch since I don't think any arrived on boats until early jan?Originally posted by scobb View PostSlightly off topic, but NZ also gets Skoda models well ahead of Aus. The Octavia VRS has been here for several months (and very nice it is too, with goodies like the Discover Media Pro as standard).
A launch like that isn't bad though, I'd love to be able to order my exact one before they all arrive instead of waiting for it to launch here and then having to do a factory order and waiting again.MY16 Octavia RS 162 Race Blue Combi

VW Car-net (the google earth stuff) hasn't been enabled in Australia though, this could attribute to why VWA is dragging their heals on the Pro for the Golf.Last edited by readerr0r; 11-02-2014, 09:04 AM.MY16 Octavia RS 162 Race Blue Combi

NZ is a much smaller market (less than 20%) than ours and allows more flexibility in what/when is available. Their new cars do not have to be made ADR compliant which is expensive for manufacturers and holds up the timeline. When I was in Dunedin in early March last year the new Mk7 Golf was already on display. When you see what Kiwis have to pay for new (and used) cars you will be thankful for having to wait a few more months for ADR compliant Aust models. $40,000 NZ for a Hyundai i30 anyone? Because that's what was being promoted when I was there last year. Also Australia is a pretty small market for VW in the automotive world so it's easy to see why the Aust side of things limits our choice of models and equipment. I'm just thankful it has probably helped them to be able to lower the price of a base Golf to $21490. NZ pay over $32,500 for theirs. That's in a country where living expenses are similar to ours (cars & petrol are much more) and real wages much less.Originally posted by Alex31 View PostThis is utter rubbish! That's a fair point but I know I'm one of the few people who is willing to pay what it takes to get what I want. If I wanted a cheap car with bugger all options and features I would get a jap car. I am rather disappointed of the features we have been Denied. Even Toyota's have push start now....Toyota The most boring car maker on the planet has it.. Just think VGA could stop thinking that the price is the only thing that matters.

So have a look at the S3 then???

If the R's 60k on road then I'll be scooting off to the S3 a snip at just $5k more! I suspect i won't be the only one either.Originally posted by drad81 View PostWhile the Alltrack was being serviced last week I had a chat to the sales manager and he said they're expecting the price to be $60k including onroad costs.

I would think you're right on the money there Andrew7, if you compared previous models also, the S3 had a better list of inclusions too, so if the Golf R comes in at $60k, and have to tick a few options, then the difference in price could be very minimal.Originally posted by andrew7 View PostIf the R's 60k on road then I'll be scooting off to the S3 a snip at just $5k more! Plus the S3 comes in hatch and sedan, you don't get that choice with the Golf.Ordered - Audi S3 Sedan in Sepang Blue (BW 29)

That might be so on carsales, but if you drop by an Audi dealership you can get a base S3 Sportsback for $66500 drive away, and that's without negotiating and better deal.Originally posted by Alex31 View PostThe cheapest S3 on car sales is 73k

Same with the MB A45 AMG, most listed on carsales are in the $110k, all because of the popularity of the car and its availability or late off.Ordered - Audi S3 Sedan in Sepang Blue (BW 29)
