Well the price for the Golf R is out in the UK, and its not much cheaper than the S3!

In the previous (Mk6 / 8P) iteration, the Golf R was more expensive than the S3 in the UK. You can't make too many assumptions about the future local price from the UK price.

Their spec defaults and offerings are often different to ours, but it's still a good reason to pick up the S3 since it arrives here sooner.

If UK pricing is anything to go by then I suspect once the local pricing is announced that there will be a flood of S3 orders....

The latest info I have is that we should have details released in the first quarter of 2014.

if the S3 sedan is coming, then the R pricing is going to have to be something special for me to not go with the audi.

I will definetely be cross shopping between the Audi S3 and the Golf R , being a cash purchase i hope i can for once get a good deal and screw the dealer lol

Also having a RX7 SPIRIT R TYPE A and a Golf R would be too many R types

The dealer actually makes more money from financing so i would expect to get a good deal just because you have cash.

Maybe 10+ years ago but the game has changed now.

So you guys believe that the dealers dont have a profit margin built in to every sale made , mate worked for vw he told me the margins made on used as well as new cars Sold

I dont expect them to sell at a loss however get a few thousand $$$ off the recommended list price .

I think it comes down to if they've met their monthly sales target or not, and sales being down compared to previous years could work in your favour as well.

Wonder how much the Golf R will be ?

The standard S3 without the performance package , but With metalic paint and sunroof is $ 69 790
