dab+ come on vw are doing it standard across the range from 2013 over in europe. why shouldnt we get that here !
Umm... It's not 2013 yet. We have no idea what the standard equipment will be for the Mk7.

VW has already adjusted the spec of the Polo range by including bluetooth, comfortpack, audio upgrade as either standard or a reduced price. The Polo GTI now gets bluetooth, comfortpack and audio upgrade (all up about 1800 worth) for no additional charge.

DAB+ is pretty useless in Australia. Even with a stationary radio the reception is marginal in areas of Melbourne.

I want the MK7 to be well specced even at the most basic trim. Looking at Hyundai's new i30 you get fog lights and a touch screen as standard. The mid spec model gets a large sat nav display as standard. I'm not interested in buying a Hyundai but I sure hope VW can match these levels of features for a reasonable price! When you consider that the 77tsi at the moment doesn't even get cruise control...

I want gadgets like rain sensing wipers and auto headlights even in mid spec trim. Perhaps a range of different wheel options as well?

As I mentioned earlier, what VW has given is pretty trivial given the massive depreciation of the Euro Vs AUD. While I wouldn't expect 30%+ reductions in line with the FX rate, the extras are not really $1800 worth anyway - as in it does not cost VW that much - more like $600-$700 max then the super profit on top. All euro car companies are fleecing us and making stupid margins and will probably get worse as Spain, Greece, Portugal and Italy will take years to sort out their sh*&

                      -Made in Germany please!
I really hope they don't change this with the Mk7. If I'm buying a German brand, I want it to be German made.

                      -Dynaudio as standard.

-Keep the Manual gearboxes. Don't have everything DSG like the current Polo GTI.

-Don't have 'Start-Stop' tech setup on the engine. It's going to kill the life of the starter motor.
Keep the GTI as a sports model. If i want to save fuel I'll buy a Bluemotion or Diesel.

                      -Keep Spare Tyre.

-Capped Price Servicing (I know this is more of a VW Australia thing... But still, would be nice)

I'm going to chip in and say, Xenons. As someone who has them (and loves them), this must be an option. I know the Jetta has done away with them, hopefully the Golf won't follow...

                          Reliability?

I expect Volkswagen to move a bit higher up the quality surveys:

Drive - JD Power survey | Car quality survey

Fourth Last is not the greatest result .... maybe too much tech too early?

                          How about a new colour?

                          Cheers.

The point i was making is that equipment spec levels are being adjusted constantly (usually upwards) even during a model run.

                            It does now.

As for DAB+... perhaps we should have followed the US route and gone satellite radio

note to pologti18t (in case the first one didn't get through)...

we are still talking about Golfs

And no, the 77TSI Golf does not have cruise control

And do we even get XM coverage here??

A few refinements I would like to see in the MK7:

                                - An option to up-spec a GTI or R with a beige/cream leather + woodgrain/silver interior (like the luxury pack on the Comfortline)
                                - A new Bluetooth system that works properly with all types of phones (does not concern me as I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which works perfectly but plenty of others have had problems)
                                - Interior rattles/squeeks reduced (I realise no car will ever eliminate them entirely)
                                - The centre console cup holder setup. I've had a number of coffee spills
                                - Bluetooth and MDI really need to become standard on the Comfortline, GTI and R to match other manufacturers. People simply expect bluetooth and iPod integration in anything other than a sub-$20k compact
                                - Some further refinement of DSG clutch mechatronic control at low speeds
                                - 18" wheels standard on GTI, with a wider 18" or even a 19" option
                                - Increased chassis rigidity (expected with the MQB platform)
                                - Maybe some VWR factory options such as brakes, suspension and power upgrades

Contrary to what some have said I like the idea of factory options, I like to be able to choose what I want. I'd prefer not to retrofit things, for those of us who lease cars through a company we don't want to go spending our own (post-tax) money on aftermarket bits.

I am quite happy with everything else. Of course, one would expect the trend of power and efficiency increases and some sharper styling to continue.
