  • Mk7 Supernova LED headlight DRL on with low beam

    Hi

I recently bought the Supernova LED headlights to replace the stock halogen headlights on my 2014 Golf 110 TDI.

VW Golf MK7.0 Sequential Projector Headlight - 7.5 Style - Tri LED
    – Supernova Lighting

The lights work great, including DRLs, but the DRLs are not on at all when the low beam is on. I'd like to code it in VCDS so the DRLs come in dimmed (31% like park light mode) when low beam is on.

I have the genuine VCDS cable but just can't figure out which adaptations to change.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

@onejay: :Hi and thanks for the PM

Yes, Australian early model mk7s that were factory built with halogen headlights were coded so that the DRL lamps did NOT illuminate with low-beam lights. Instead, the driver needed to select the position (i.e. Parking Lights) on the rotary-light-switch to turn-ON these lamps after dark

Some models in other countries didn't have this limitation - I have no idea why Aussie cars were so coded!

Anyhow, way back in August 2016 - I wrote an instruction-set to change this behavior, which you can read HERE.

My original purpose for the tweak was for use with the OEM halogen lamps, so I kept the illumination level during low-beam operation at the factory value. I'm not sure how this light intensity will suit the new Supernova lamps - but if you want to change, modify the setting on Dimmwert EF on both Leuchte-sets. However, don't be too heavy-handed (please) because high illumination has a tendency to blind drivers in on-coming cars

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

Thanks Don. Those steps worked great. Dimmed DRL on now with low beams.
