Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Watch out the different profile doesn't rub (IIRC there is a mod to remove the screw that usually rubs). If the rolling diameter is different it may affect the accuracy of your speedo.2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

What is the reasoning behind wanting 245's? Because 235/35 is a more common tyre size so there will be more brands to choose from and prices will be cheaper.
Will a 245 fit on the rim? Will a 245 rub on the guards at the front?

reasoning is as stated... the speedo on the dash is closer to actual driving speed... slighly more rubber too after having a blow out on the freeway could have a bit more extra meat on the low profile

Is your car lowered or factory height? If you are factory height then you would have a better chance of them fitting without issue. Also, do you have spacers on your factory rims or not?

willing to try on the next lot of tyres.. unfortunately already have 1 new 235 on the car and 1 waiting due to 1 newish / middle worn tyre blowing out on the freeway. so next 2 will be 235 aswell.... thinking of getting a spare set of rims and putting 245 on them for extra comfort

Stumbled across this thread.
I've got 235/35 on my 8.5" MTM rims on my golf mk7 and just bought a mk7.5 wagon which the other driver had fitted 245/35 on 8.5" momo wheels.
I'm actually torn with what to do as the wagon needs new tyres. I was told the 245's don't rub and I can see the screw mod hasn't been done. I did however have rubbing on my mk5 with 235 tyres so I find this challenging to believe - granted a different car.
So on worn 245's I don't seem to get any rub. I also don't really see a positive so will likely go back to 235's.

wondering if maybe the bigger tyre provides more comfort when hitting little bits on the road that the standard 19' on 235 doesnt like so much
