  • Fuel Lid Won't Open Golf Mk7

    Hey guys,

My fuel lid on my Golf MK7 won't open. Normally when the car is unlocked I can just push on the fuel lid and it opens. But frustratingly I was at the servo today and it wouldn't open despite everything I tried. I had to leave on an almost empty tank. Now I can't drive my car.

What do I do? Is this yet another trip to the VW dealer ($tealer)?

    Thanks in advance

Grab a nylon trim tool (or something like a butterknife) to pry the fuel door open. Make sure the car is unlocked because the fuel door is only designed to open if the car is unlocked.

Heaps of videos on Youtube on how to get around it. If the actuator is worn out then you can buy new ones for about $80 and change it yourself easily - no need to pay ridiculous stealership prices.

Here is the part number of the solenoid for the fuel flap door on my Mk7 GTI 2015 model. Its easy to take out and replace if that is what has failed on your car.

If you Google that part number you will find it on ebay etc if you dont want to order from ECS Tuning (shipping is expensive with ECS Tuning).
