Hi All how good are the engines in the mk7 and whats considered to be the a reasonable life on the engine if well looked after. Is 220k's too high? or some life still left in it?
Thanks
Which engine? If its a TDI then 220,000km is nothing assuming its been properly serviced. If its a petrol TSI or GTI or R then 220,000km is getting high, but I can only assume if a Mk7 has done 220,000km's then it has spent a lot of time on the freeway so in terms of engine wear its probably equivalent of 150,000km.
If mainly driven gently on long trips on highways that usually means very little wear on the engine, but if driven hard in heavy traffic with lots of short trips and stopping and starting and driving with a engine not fully warm that usually means much more wear on the engine.
Regular servicing with the correct oil is very important, while carbon build-up in the intake system can be an issue with higher mileage engines.
