Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Alltrack Rear Seat Release.

I have a 2019 Alltrack and the remote release near the tailgate does not really release the rear seat lock. You have to use two hands. One to pull the lever and one to push the seat forward. This seams useless to me as you may as well just use the release on the seat.

I have had trouble with the lock not engaging but it is locking now. Previously the release would allow the seat to move about 20mm so you could let go of the handle. VW dealer says there is nothing wrong. As with previous VWs and Audis I may just pay to have it fixed. Not worth the trouble trying to get warranty out of VW Australia unless it is expensive.

What are your thoughts. Should the seat back move forward?

I have a 2017 Golf R Wagon. Pulling the seat release makes the seat fall completely forward.

Mine has never done that. VW dealer mechanic says the right side one is heavier so it doesn't do that. Sounds like VW BS.

Sounds like they are fobbing you off. Might be a spring or similar that is broken/missing. I dont have a VW Golf wagon, but my brother has a 2019 Skoda Octavia vRS wagon and the seats flip forward when you pull the release lever in the back.

Has something fallen down between the backrest and base? Maybe it's getting jammed on something?

No you can tell that the lock on the top of the seat is not located properly. It is not flush with the leather like the other side.

No problem with either releases on mine - both seats go down.

Anyone know a NSW VW dealer that actually does warranty?

Booked in for service today. Told them about the seat problem. If they do not think it is warranty they will charge $160 just to look at it. Car has done 15,000kms.

I will never buy another new VW.

Dealer has finally repaired the problem. Backrest frame was faulty from factory.
