Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 1.4L Turbo - Catch cans

    Hey guys n gals

New to the VAG family and taking delivery of a 7.5 comfort-line this week.

I've had a look around and cant seem to find any kits specifically for the 1.4L Turbo so I will more than likely get a mishimoto compact model with petcock system as I've used these on other cars and quite like the size colour and style.

Before I commit to one .... does anyone know of a good 'OE' looking style units or kits that they can PERSONALLY recommend?

    Cheers
    Dan

    Congrats on the new car.

There are catch can kits for the Mk7 around (eg Integrated Engineering & Burger Motorsport) but they are all made to suit the engine in the GTI/R and are stupid expensive for what they are.

As you mentioned, best bet with the 1.4TSI would be to piece one together yourself. I did a similar thing on my Audi SQ5 as nobody made a catch can kit for this car, so I purchased a good quality diesel catch can and made a mounting bracket, then routed 19mm ID tubes to the PCV.
