Left/right hand driving mode

While looking at things in my OBD11 in the new car I noticed a setting for the lights and it referred to driving on the left side of the road?

I did change it and this error message pops up when doing a scan.



It's just basically for information and can't be cleared it seems.

Should not cars for Australia be configured in the areas that are about LHD vs RHD be set to RHD?

I've seen other references but only changed the one for the high beams. The display does tell me something about the lights being set for RHD at startup.

If I’m not mistaken I think this setting can be changed without going into OBD11?

I assumed this was a setting only useful for Europe. For example if driving from UK to France or vice versa. Maybe it changes the high beam/headlight alignment?

I think that's what it does, so it seemed like a good idea and made sense.

It is what bor1203 said and should not be altered here or you will blind everybody as lights will be shining across road

Only if you are driving in a LEFT HAND DRIVE country. Read your manual It tells you what it is.

If it was needed car would have been set up for it but as car is going to a RHD country it is set up correctly

I have worked on the theory with OBD II that if I dont understand what it does DONT DO IT

So far no stuff ups bu if you do a major one you can crawl back to VW and ask nicely and for about $300 they can reset whole car back to what it was when left the factory

The setting I changed was in the main car settings for lights as suspected, but I was playing in OBD11 so I forgot.

I put travel mode back to left hand traffic.
