Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Strange sound from golf when accelerating

    Hi all

I recently purchased a 2016 Golf Highline with automatic transition and 50 000kms on it about 2 months ago. It's been running perfectly, been regularly serviced and had a full mechanic inspection before purchase.

In the last few weeks I've noticed

    1. A strange almost squeaking sound when I accelerate at low speeds. See the 5 sec mark of this video
    YouTube

    2. A loud creaking sound when going over bumps, rough surfaces and cornering

These are only intermittent, and there are some bad and some good days, but overall they seem to be getting more frequent.

I'll be bringing it into a workshop to have a look but wonder if anyone has any experience or suggestions before then?

    Cheers

^^^ I like the flywheel squeak suggestion!! Is the (odd) sound engine-rev dependent? Looks like it's happening around 1.5K revs on the video? Does the sound always appear around this rev point (when it does appear)?

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.
