Golf Mk7 Navigation Help

Hi Guys,

I tried to update my Golf Mk7 2013 navigation maps with the DiscoverCare_v.1.0.4_win tool and things went bad, the content of the SD card was not backed up and now basically i dont have maps anymore.
I have checked and the files were not backed up on the computer.

I spent hours reading on forums and it seems that if you just copy back the back up content should work.

If anyone here reads and has a V1 card and can upload or transfer somehow the contents of their SD card please help.

I have the original SD card 5G0 919 866A Multi region Map but dont have the original content as it was deleted in the process.

What happens if you download the map straight onto the card.

Did you format the card before you downloaded the map

I have tried and will not work.

If doing it from the DiscoverCare_v.1.0.4_win will download only a update that is 404mb and downloading the Zip from Volkswagen Map & Softwareupdates and copying it to the SD Card will only give me this message :

Looks like it s the wrong map DID YOU FORMAT THE CARD

Thats the problem then AFAIK you just put it in and let it do its thing

You have probably wiped the hidden sectors in it with the required info on it

You can't affect the hidden partition with the license information using a format.
The license in the card is good for 3 years of maps updates.
After that you need to install either the last previous maps to which you had a valid license, or get a new sdcard which will then get you another 3 years of updates.
The cards are available from vw spares for something like $240 or so (don't quote me).

Thats interesting and not generally known Im sure. First time Ive heard of it anyway.

Hopefully the free ones we can download for our Discovery Pro II dont come to a screaming halt after 3 years

Do you think that a different version of SD would work ( mine is V1 ) or i should say goodbye to the nav system?

Back to the start i guess, if anyone has a V1 card and can share the contents from it would be highly appreciated.

Not sure if i would be correct but surely if you cant see the hidden partition in yours you wouldnt in another one either and if its like the Mazda one it wont copy across either. At least the one I stuffed wouldnt
