Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Retrofitting options for VW Golf Mk7 (2019)

    Hi Everyone!

I've recently purchased a VW Golf Comfortline 2019 model. Its just about 3 weeks. It comes with the driver assistance and audio package. The driving experience has been excellent so far.

There are three areas where I seek the members' advice:

    1. I'd like to install fog lights and upgrade the steering wheel (with paddle shifters and progressive steering). Is there anybody who can guide me on how to do this? I've never done any retrofits by myself.

    2. Is the AFS feature no longer available in the Golf? I do not see it in any of the models, even in the Highline, Golf GTI/R - as per the website.

    3. I'd also like to active some of the VCDS tweaks - any friendly member who may be willing to help?

I'm based out of Perth, WA

      Hi Hez5,

No, couldnt find one. The dealers are quoting very high and themselves recommended me to exchange the car for a GTI/R line

          Hi Everyone!

I wish to have fog lamps installed and I've located the units at aliexpress: 2pcs Fog Light For VW Golf 7.5 MK7 A7 Facelift 2017 2018 Car Styling Front Halogen Fog Lamp Fog Light With Bulbs And Wire-in Car Light Assembly from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

The rotary switch needs to be ordered as separate.

I also wish to have my steering wheel upgraded to the GTI type.

As I lack the expertise and tools, is there any place in Perth where I can get this done or someone who can help me out? I'm willing to pay an installation fee.

My car is a Golf Comfortline 2019 model with DA & AV pack.

Has anyone done such an upgrade before?

I would contact someone like VCDS SYDNEY - Home and ask if they have any partners/connections over in WA who could source/install these parts for you.

Not readily but this can be ordered from eurocarparts, ebay or skodaparts

I'm located at Perth, so I dont think VCDS Sydney will be of help, unless they're got a setup in Perth.
