There are some poor souls still seeking over $40k used for one.
For the right price they're not bad, especially for a buyer who was keen on a 3 door but wanted some of the trinkets cut out of the original. Whether or not the 7 speed box is one of those is open to debate.
(then again as someone who has been potentially shopping a used ED40, the entire second hand market is flooded with dreamers wanting well into the $40s for a 2 year old car - they were under $50 new lol. The only car with a sensible price happens to be a written off special)

Provided they don’t want keyless entry and push button start, the 7.5 Performance Edition 1 skipped that little trinket lol
The 40 Years Editions (presuming that’s what you meant by ED40) are a bit steep. You been keeping an eye on if they’re selling?

Ouch. Somewhere along the way that just became a standard and would be annoying to live without!
Sorry yep, that's my short-cut to be consistent with ED35. I haven't been following for to long but I would be shocked if the $40k+ cars were selling (but hey, you find someone silly enough to pay almost new price for one, full credit to you).
There were two dealer cars under $40k, but I think one sold Saturday, so leaves a red with roof in Adelaide but for whatever reason it hasn't got a VW service history so that's an issue.
They're a great car, pick of the GTIs, but they aren't worth almost new pricing.
