Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Reverse Vibration?

Sorry if this has been covered before, having a strange noise coming from my 2015 Golf 7 highline. When I reverse out of the garage, there's a vibration coming from the front of the car, only noticed it in the last week. Will be taking it in as the transmission was recently fixed for a dash message error. Anything else this noise could be?

If it happens when you are reversing up a slope it could be your DMF is starting to fail. Although this failure is usually more of a distinct shudder rather than a noise or vibration. Finding out (happens more, less or the same reversing on a slope) will be useful diagnostic info for whoever is fixing your car.

Ok thanks, suppose you could describe it as a shudder, plan on taking to the dealer and let them listen, hopefully it’s not anything terrible and expensive to fix.
